|R 'Hie proprietor of ibis Alterative would most re
srierl lullv assure I lie public that lie lias not offered
ibis preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid siudy, nor until after
twelve years'experience had manifested itsgreat
superiority over every otlier article of ihe. kind.-
and lie now recommends it with confidence, tuny
believing that the, above combination ol medicine
will effectually eradicate from llie system a ' lass
of disease some of which have heretofore been cou
riered incurable.
He lias prescribed it in almost every variety of
disease and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and |
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri- j
ty est lie blood. - j
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used tins preparation in upwards of twen
trWell defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one w ith perfect and
entire success.
Brouchoccle or Goitre, {Swelled >eck.)
He, has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
ffoitre, and it has never failed in a single instance ;
To completely remove the disease. Not a aultUuy
rase of failure. All were cured.
The success he has rael with in curing broncho- j

but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar j

Scrofula — King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous cases
•f Scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings,
and always w ith the most deci led success.
Skin Diseases.
lie has prescribed it in a great variety ofculane- j
ous affections, and found it successful in curing s.tit
rheum, or letter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphevv
and jaundiced skin, <fec.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-Donloureii/.
It has been used in several Vases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed irt a great
natty cases of chronic rheumaisiu, and in every |
rase in which it was used until the system became j
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed*
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have bVen r*tred by
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it. so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room; j
hut before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from w hich he had so long j
been excluded by his afflictions;
Dropsical Swellings, •
This medicine increases the powers of digestion,
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, hy
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all
unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparls
auA vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wardering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine lias
been taken for some time, no matter for wli t pur
pose.; the general health ot the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say tha t some
of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, brottchocele, and scrofula, have been cured f>y
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this lime.
CANCER.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative .
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear [
td id the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wile ol Peter
Stretch, of Salem, N.J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and paiufulness, uutil all hope
Os raving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Ur. Redman, ihe
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again, Bhe remained feeble,
and her general health w as exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
springof 1837, upwards of fiveyears after herbreasl
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. 'l itis tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as tc deprived her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, ami
a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
Ikiili her parents having died of Pulmonary con
sumption. The experiment was now made with
this-Alterative. It was at first given in small
doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu j
ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she
took it, which was about six months, and the skin
over and around ihe, tumour was wet night and
morning with a strong solution of lotline and Hy
driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas
ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times
very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto
gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con
tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of
disease was removed. The tumour in her left
breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards; a ml her general health, which
had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a
burthen, waseff c:ual!y and permanently restored.
The proprietor is in possession of the diseased
breast, and those who choose may examine it. Ile
would also say that he could mention over a dozen
cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative
has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but lie
Inis not room hereto record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge. N. J..
bad R »oitrous tumour on the left side, of her wind
nipe as large as the half of an orange, which was
cured by using this Alterative for about four
months.
TVIF-s R S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire spaee between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on
each side of her neck to behind Iter ears, a«d from
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de
formity. Jt commenced growing when she was
but five years old. and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at which time she
commenced using this Alterative, which she took
for seven mtmfhs, which entirely reduced the en- (
largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty ;
a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at
i fieri yto give her name in print, but will refer pur- j
•eons to her.

MAGNETIC FLUID.
TgAIIIS remarkable invention, which lias received the
« almost universal approbation of the medical pro
| fes-ion of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
-1 plication of Galvanism, a> a remedial agent, by means of
j which the ordinary Galvanic Ba terios, Electric and Mag
-1 netic Machines, Ac., are entirely dispensed with, and the
; mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any
: of the objections which are insuperable from the gene
ral Diode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
i lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by- tbe .Ma
chines. has been pronounced, aficr a fair and impartial
trial, lobe decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
i jecterl, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
1 been brought to its present state of perfection. The
I Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
, expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
j iforc safe dud certain in accomplishing the desired
i effect.
i The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic ri u»n. are confidently recommended in all
■ DISORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR IN
! HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL -SYSTEM, and
I these complaints are among the most painful and imi
! versa) to which we arc subject. They arise, w ilhout ex
' ccutihu. from One simple cause—a derangement o I the
I Nervous system —and it was in tlie.-e cases that other
j •‘remedies’’ having so often failed, a new agent was
i greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, lm>
I been found in the proper and judicious application of
Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entiresuc

1 Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally -uc
ccssful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system
must be witnessed to be believed, and as a. certain pre
ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal
ly recommended. The Rings arc of different prices,
being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat
terns.and ran be worn by the most delicate female wii bout
the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is
rather agreeable than otharwise.
The Galvanic Holts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, »l-c.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings
is not sufficient to arrestthe progress of disease and ulti
mately to restore health. The improved modification in
the Gai.van’c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme
dies this objection ; anj'degree of power that is required
can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail In be
permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the
waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe body
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces
are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally; also in cases of Ner
vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a
preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Pits, and similar
1 complaints.
f’hristio'.s Magnetic Fluid.
Is issued in connection w ith the Galvanic Rings. and
allth-ir modifications. This composition has been pro
nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most
i extraordinary discoveries of Modern science. It is,be
| lieved to poss ss a rein of rrndlkiiig ihe
| Nerves seiisitive toGalvadic actioo, by these means
causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
othercomposiiiou in chemistry is known to produce the
; same effect or to impirta similar properly tolhe nervous
system hy means of an outward local application. The
! Magiietic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slight
est injury, its application is agreeable, am! it is harmless
in its action as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana
tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
ventions art; in every way perfectly harmless ; they are
at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only rc
i quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy
i and permanent benefit.

Those articles form another valuable application of
the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They arc an
i important adjunct to the genuine Galvahic Bines and
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, hnf
having this advantage of more local upplica:ion. They
are confidently recommended ns a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy m oases
of Pain anil Weakness i i tho (’host or Back, Pain in the
Side, in Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Op
pression of the Pnluiosaty (Organs. In Spiaad Com
plaints; tkeir effects arc of the most decided character,
and they have often been used with coinplot - success.
They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended
for many of those complaints to which females are
especially liable. Asan effectual means for e'trcngtlien
ing the system when debilitated with disease or other
causes ; as a cor tain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest
