" COTTON GINST"
IHPROTK D ON WHAT WAS RFFORE
CON SI DKKED I'EKl’htT.
I HAVE heretofore labored that my cotton gins
should be thought superior to any manufac
| lured in Georgia. By offering to the public such
j an article I have been liberally patronized, for
j which 1 feel grtcful. 1 have warranted my fine
| gins. 1 have never hail one returned as not com
j ing up to vvhat I promised. It is known 1 have,
and do promise that my gins make superior cot
ton. 1 have no travelling agents. I rely on my
gins telling a better tale for me, and one that will
j be sooner believed than a travelling agent; in
short, 1 hope to make my gins sell themselves. I
| feel confident in stating that 1 have made vulun
; blc improvements in fine gins, and that I shall
| hereafter furnish an improved gin to anything
; heretofore sold. I would also inform citizens of
1 Warren, Washington, Wilkes, Columbia and
Burke counties, that 1 have purchased Simpson’s
improvement for band machinery, and those who
purchase my gins in the counties named will have
the use of the patent free; the material, when de
sired, will lie put on the head block, free of charge.
It will require a small outlay ot material on the
hand wheel, which will be furnished at the lowest
1 possible rate, and which, when used, reduces the
draft loan astonishing extent; the character of
the improvement is simply by propelling the ma
chinery by a slack hand, instead of a tight one.—
My finest Friction Roller Gins are sold at per
saw.
My plain gins are also greatly improved, and
will be sold according to kind, from $2 to &2,50
per saw. My finest gins have heretofore sold
higher than other gins, and yet, heretofore, I
have not been able to supply the demand, whilst
I have been unable to sell but few plain gins.
Orders or letters, addressed to me at Sparta,
will lie promptly attended to, and gins delivered at
purchasers’ residences, free of charge.

Certificates.
Shoales of Ogeeehee, Ga, March JTth, 1817.
G. f. Oglesby, Esq.— Dear Sir:— Below I
hand my certificate, agreeably to your request,
stating precisely the opinion I entertain of their
superiority over any I have ever seen. 1 have
also obtained the certificate of Mr Wilson, our
Supetintendant and Machinist, who is the best
judge of the quality of cotton, as he ‘chews the
bag.’ Very respectfully your friend trhly,
THOS. CHEELEY.
Shoals of Ogeeehee, Ga., 1817—This is to cer
tify that I have used two of Mr. G. T. Oglesby’s
Anti-Friction Coston Gins, (the one CO and the
other 45 saws,) for several years, and can trulv
say th* y are superior to any thing of the kind
now is use; and form an exception to what is
said about this being an age of improvement, at
least as far as gin making is concerned.
THOMAS CHEELEY.
Brothers' Factory, Shoals of Ogeeehee, Ga.,
March 17 th, 1847. — This is to certify that one of
G. T. Oglesby's 60 saw A nti-Frielion Cotton
Gins is now, and has been in use for the last four
teen mouths at this place, and I can sav with con
fidence that it is the best article of the kind that I
have yet seen.
B. J. Wilson, B'iper’t and Practical Machinist.
Savannah, Alarck liHh, 1847. — The under
signed, during the past season, ha”e frequently
noticed the superiority of cotton, received from
those planters who use gins manufactured by G.
T. Ogleshv, E-q.. of Sparta, over that ftom other
gins. It has invariably commanded the highest
price, and very frequently one-fourth of a cent
l>er pound moie than other cottons of the same
class. RABUN & FULTON.
J. L. SWINNEY.
Augusta, February 21th, 1847.—The under
signed Factors and Commission Merchants, take
pleasure in recommending to the planters gene
rally, G. T Oglesby & Brother’s improved make
ofgins, and do not h, s tate to say that the cotton
ginned on them is equal to any received in this
market, and in every instance commands from an
i to fc. above highest quotations, and in point of
durability think they cannot be supassed.
Dye & Robertson.
Augusta , February 26th, 1847. We take
pleasure in recommending to planters generally
Messrs. Oglesby & Brother’s improved cotton
gins, and do not hesitate to say the cotton ginned
on them is equal to any received in this market,
and will always command the highest quotations
HEARD & DAVISON.
ADAMS, HOPKINS & Co.
DOUGHTY & BEALL.
February Is/, 1847.—This ts to certify that I
have now in use one of Oglesby’s improved cot
ton gins, and that I consider it altogether supe
rior to any gin lever used, running easy and ma
king the cotton fine and clear of motes.
WM. TENELL.
February 25'/i, 1847.—1 have used one of the
above gins for one season, and concur fully in the
above/ BENJAMIN T. HARRIS.
Sparta , February 15 th, 1847.—This is to cer
tify, that I have owned one of Mr. Oglesby’s im
proved cotton gins for two years, anil can safely
recommend his gins for two reasons. 'The first,
that they do not cut the lint or staple as other
gins. The next, 1 consider them the moat dura
ble gins that 1 have ever used.
M. G. HARRIS.
February 20lh, 1847.—We do certify, that we
have used tor the last two years Mr. G. T. Ogles
by’s Anti-Friction Gins, and are decidedly of the
opinion that they are the best gins now in use in
this Slate, both for the firmness of the cotton and
their durabjlitv, and take great pleasure in re
commending them to our brother-farmers gene
rally. Richard P. Sasnett.
Edward L. Barne. Joseph R Sasnett.

GALVANIC RINGS
AND
MAGNETIC FLUID.
THIS remarkable invention, which has received the
almost universal approbation of the medical pro
fession of Great Itntaui, comprises an entirely new ap
plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, hy means of
which the ordinary Galvanic IJa teries, Llectnc and Mag
netic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious powers of Galvanism applied w ithout any
of the objections which are inseperable from the gene
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
chines, has been pronounced, as era fair and impartial
trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
been brought to its present state of perfection. The
Galvanic Rings answer all tlie purposes of the most
expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired
effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, aie confidently recommended in all
D SORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN- j
HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and
these complaints are among the most painful and uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, without ex
cepiiim, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other
“ remedies” having so often failed, » *>ew agent was
greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has ;
been found m the proper and judicious application of
Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entiresuc
cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to the head, face or limbs ■ Gout, Tic-Dolorf.ux
Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or sick
Headache, Indigestion , Paralyses. Palsy, Epilepsy,
Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy,
Stiffness of Joints. Spinal Complaints, Rumbago,
Neuralgia. Nervous Trf.mors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest anoSide.Generai. Debili
ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and ali. Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of |
the digestive organs, they have been found equally sue- j
cessfui. Their extraordinary effects upon the system j
must he witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre- j
vestive for the preceding complaints they are equal- ,
ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices, (
being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pal- j
terns,and can be worn hy the mostdelicate female without ;
the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is
rather agreeable than otherwise.
The Galvanic Helts, Bracelets, Bantls,
Garters, Necklaces, Ac.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings i
is not sufficient to arrestthe progress of disease and ulti- j
mately to restore health. The improved modification in j
the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme
dies this objection ; any degree of powerthat is required
can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the j
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be
permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the j
waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe body j
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces j
are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or j
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner
vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a
preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
complaints.
Christie's Magnetic Flnid.
Is issued in connection w ith the Galvanic Rings and
all their modifications. This composition has been pro
nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most ;
extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be
lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderihg thf.
Nerves seiisitive to Galvanic actioii, by these means |
causing a circulation of the intiuence at the seal of dis- i
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
othercomposition in chemistry is known to produce the
same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous ,
system by meausof an outward local application. The
Magiietic Fluid contains nothing capable of theslight- !
est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless ;
in itsaction as it is beneficial in its result. Fnil explana
j tious and directions accompany it. The combined in- j
! ventionsare in every way perfectly harmless; they are
I at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only re- i
quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy j
and permanent benefit.
Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
Thesearticles form another valuable application an i
the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are tuo
important adjunct to the genuine Galvauic Rnicsand )
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
having this advantage of more local applica ion. They
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all nervous complaints, and is a positive remedy in cases
of Fain and Weakness i the Chest or Back. Fain in the
Side, in Asthma'ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op- ;
pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com- |
plaints; their effects are of the most decided character, |
and they have often been used with complete success, i
They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and j
Weaknessof the Breast, and are highly recommended 1
for many of those complaints to which females are
especially liable. As an effectual means for strengthen- 1
ing the system when debilitated with disease or other
causes ; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds and in ail affections of the Chest 1
generally the Galvanic Strengt 1 ening Plaster will be !
found of great and permanentad vantage. In a few words, 1
it embraces all tbe virtues of the best tonic preparation j
with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, j
which is neither impaired orOexhansted, whilethe action
continues. These articles will be found entirely free |
from those objections which arc a constaatsourceofcom- !
plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use.
CTThe great celebrity and success of these articles, I
have caused them to be counterfeited by unprincipled ;
persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie
has but one authorized agent in each city of the Union, I
The only Agency in Augusta,Geo., is at the Store of
HAVH.AND, RISUEY &• CO.. Druggists.
All articles of the kind sold elsewhere are worthless
counterfeits. 42 Sept. 28

JOHN O’NEILL, Woolen, Cotton and Silk I
Fancy Dyer, informs the public generally ;
that he wishes to be engaged in his line of busi- I
ness for the next year.
He is at present in the employ of George Schley, :
Esq., of Richmond county, and has been superin
tending for him the COTTON DYING of Bkli e- j
ville Factory for the last eighteen months.—
His engagement will terminate on the Ist October
next.
He will give instructions in the art of Cotton 1
Dying at any establishment, were he might be em
ployed, on more reasonable terms than could be
obtained in any English or Northern Dye-House.
His chemical knowledge of the Cold Bine Dye is
superior to any hitherto know n in this section of
country, and by his mode can, from the same
amount of Indigo, dye neatly three times the j
amount dyed in the common way. lIU instruc
tions in dying this one color would be of more ben- |
efit to an establishment in one year than three !
limes the amount of his wages. He has. at pre
sent, under Ids instruction, a hoy, belonging to his
employer, whom he has partly taught the art of
dyeinecolors most suitable for the Factory, viz:
Red, Yellow, Brown, Orange and Blue, and will
make liim proficient before the expiration of his I
engagement. His work, to be seen at Belleville |
Factory, is the best criterion by which to judge his
capacity.

triumphantly tested not only by some of the most
respectable families in the Stale, who have furnish
ed ample testimony as to their decided excellence,
but also by the proprietor, who, for ten years, suf
fered all the gloom incident to that distressing dis
ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied
to most other Billers, of not proving injurious by
continued use. They contain not a single delete
rious ingredient, and, as seen from the directions
which accompany each bottle, may be given with
entire safety to an infant in the inoiilh
li the Colleton is taken regularly and persever
ingly,(which is highly important in stubborn cases,)
they will, soon after .ihe use of a few bottles, be
found to act on the system like a charm—imparling
vigor to the stomach, bracing the nerves, cleans
ing the liter, promoting digestion, increasing the
appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, reliev
ing pains, cramps, and stitches in the breast. They
are also mostexcelleni for cholera morbus, habitual
consti pat ion, sea-sickness, nausea, proceed ing from
whatever cause. In cases of general debility, it
has proved one of the best remedies, and is there
fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary
gentlemen, stiufe/its, and others of sedentary habits.
Taken in small doses frequently through the day,
they have checked the most violent diarrhoea, and
likewise been administered wiih the happiest effect
of cholera infantum.
In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will
be found effectual if persisted in, and taken accord
ing to the directions which accompany each bottle.
And although it has been testified by several that
they are excellent in many others, yet in none other
than those above enumerated, is the proprietor will
iugto vouch for their efficacy- They were prima
rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia.
The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be
fore the public; and in consequence of the increas
ing demand for this valuable meoicine, the proprie
tor has entered largely into the business —bottles
are procured having "Colleton Bitters” moulded in
them—they are also numbered, sealed and stamp

personal friends and acquaintances, long afflicted
with Dyspepsia, have assured me that they have
found these Hitlers better than any other medicine
they ever tried, for that distressing disease. And I
take the pleasure further to state that I have wit
nessed the excellency of these Hitters, in nausia,
sick-headache, and bowel complaint; in this last
particular. I have seen the Colleton repeatedly and
successfully tested among the children of ray ow n
