for which the Society ol Encouragement ami Ag
riculture ot France, after testing the value of it
for three consecutive years, through a commission
composed of Scientific Agriculturists and Che
mis’s, and after their favorable report, awarded
the inventor a premium of 3.000 francs, and a
gold medal.
The stimulating power of the ingredients com
posing this solution is such, that bv sleeping the
| Seed in it, the effect is not only to accelerate the
, germination, hut to render the vegetation more
j vigorous, by its useful action as a hygroscopic;
| the gaseous emanations of carbonic acid, anil
i carbonated hydrogen, nourish the plant, and
j make it more productive to the Farmer, by pre
| venting rugt and the attacks of insects.
The numerous advantages arising from the use
i of this Sleep, are—lst, that it is the dir« ct appli
| cation of pabulum to tfie seed, instead of the
: ground. 2d. It supersedes ail brining*, lime,
j plaster, and all other troublesome operations now
in use. 3d. it causes a much more speedy and
hardy growth; and lastly, by maturing much
sooner, (wc think lOdass.Ht will evade the rust,
and consequently, give the husbandman a more
profitable harvest; also, the cost is moderate, (£3

DIRECTIONS FOR USING THE CHEMICAL

Put in a tight tub as much of the Solution
es is required for the quantity of Seed you have
to soak—throw in the seed and let it remain, as
follows •
W HEAT and RYE. (! Hours or more
OA fS and BAREEV, 3 Hours or more
CLOVER and O L'ilEß
GRASS SEED, 2 Hours.
INDIAN CORN, 18 to 24 Hours.
O® After being soaked, dry it through a hair
sieve before sowing.
CO I TON SEED.—Southern Planters would
i find a great benefit by using this Solution as a
j >teep for their Cotton Seed before planting. The
i longer the Seed stand soaking the better. After
| having been soaked, the Seeds must be drained
j in a sieve or basket, and immediately planted.
F»r the information of those who wi>h second
| testimony on this matter, he subjoins the opinion
! of some well known Agriculturists, who tried the
| preparation on Wheat last Fall, and now renew
their orders for an enlarged quantum for spring
seedings. „
Extract of a letter from JOHN S. SKIN
NER, Esq , dated Eebruary 15, 1845. Your So
lution was tried, not by me, but my own son, F.
G. Skinner; the Wheat he steeped in it was
sowed very late, yet he says the effect is very ap
! parent and highlv beneficial. I shall recommend
the trial of the Solution to all my friends next
spring, for their Oats, Coin, Ac.
Col, N. GOLDSBOROUGH, writes, March
j Glh, 1815; Three bushels were seeded in still
white oak land, and here I have every reason to
be well satisfied with the experiment; the Wheat
came up there .lavs earlier, and grew up with as
tonishing vigor, and has maintained a superiority
over the adjacent Wheat, which was brined and
limed and seeded the same day in land of the
same quality. It has constantly appeared thus
far as if the land in which the Wheat stteejied in
the Solution war seeded had been manured, and
the other not; whereas the whole was dressed the
preceding spring with barn-yard manure, Ac.
| Commodore JONES, U. S. Navy, writes ; -‘As
i to the effects of the Solution on the growing crop,
j Ac., 1 think very favorable. It has added much
j to the appearance as well as to the growth, Ac.”
j (Order, double the quantum used last Fall.)
Green Valley Earm, August 27, 18IG. — I have
tried your solution, last fall, on Wheat. I sowed
a piece of land of three acres, one half the seed
soaked with the Solution, and the other without
anv soaking. One acre and a half, with the
seed soaked, gave 21 i bushels Wheat, the other
one and a half acres only yielded I2f; the Wheat
weighed 591 pounds per bushel, while that not
soaked onlv 57E '1 he W heat soaked came up
nearly four days before the other, and harvested

and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his
opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua

and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant

short, 1 hope to make my gins sell themselves. 1
feel confident in slating that I have made ralna
ble improvements in fine gins, and that I shall
hereafter furnish an improved gin to anything
heretofore sold. I would also inform citizens of
Warren, Washington, Wilkes, Columbia and
Burke counties, that I have purchased Simpson’s
improvement for band machineiy, and those who
purchase my gins in the comities named will have
the use of the patent free; the material, when de
sired, will he put on the bead block, free ot charge.
It will require a small outlay of material on the
band wheel, which will he furnished at the lowest
i possible rate, and which, when used, reduces the
draft to an astonishing extent; the character of
the improvement is simply by propelling the ma
chinery by a slack band , instead of a tight one.—
My finest Friction Roller Gins are sold at &3 per

My plain gins are also greatly improved, and
will be sold according to kind, from 8- to ;82.50

plication of Gab auisin, av a remedial agent, by means ol
w Inch the ordinary Galvanic P.a terms, tlieclnc and Mag
netic Machine?. &c. t are entirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious powci 8 of Galvanism applied witlioui any
of the objections which are inseparable Irom the gene
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and ut irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
chines, has been pronounced, as era fair and impartial
trial, tube decidedly injurious, and it was to remady
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
linen brought to its present slate of perlection. The
Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
expensive .Machines, and in many other respects are
more safe and curtain in accomplishing the desired
effect.
The Galvanic Rings. used in connection with the
Magnetic Fl int), a e confidently recommended in all
i D BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN
| HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM,and
I these « omplaints are among the most painful and uni
versal to which w e are subject. They arise, w ithuiit ex
ception, from one simple cau.e—a derangement of the
j Nervous system—and it was in these eases that other
j “ remedies” having so often failed, a new aeent was
i greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, lias
been found in tbe proper and judicious application of
j Galvanism.
I TlieGiLVANic Rings have been used with outiresuc

I Stiffness f Joints, Spinal Complaints, Kumbago,
1 Neuralgia. Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side. General Debili
ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
| the digestive organs, they have been (bund equally suc
cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system
j must lie witnessed to he believed, and us a certain pre-
I vestive for the preceding complaints they areequal
i ly recommended. The Kings are of different prices,
being in.ide of all sizes, aml of various ornamental pal

j flic slightest inconvenience, in fact the sensation is
; rather agreeable than othorw isc.

can readily he obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be
I permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the
waist, arms, wrists, limbs ancles or any part of ilic body
1 with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces
i are used with greater benefit in ease- f P>ronchitis or
I affections of I tie throat generally ; also in cases of Ner

j preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
{ complaints.
Christie's Jlasrnetic Fluid.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and
all their modifications. This compo-ition has been pro
nounced by the French Chemist- to be one of the most
; extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be
| lieved to poss'-ss a remarkable power of renderirg the
| Nerves seiisitive toGalvaiiic actioii. by these means
| causing a circulation of the influence at the seal of Jis
i ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
otbercomposition in chemistry is know n to produce the
same effect of to impart a similar property to the nervous
system by meansof an outward local application. The
. IMagiietig Fluid contains nothing capable of ilie slight
est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
in itsaciioii as it is beneficial in its rcsulr. Full explana
tions and directions accompany it. Tbw combined in
veiitions are in every way perfectly harmless; they arc

These articles form another valuable application an

important adjunct to the genuine Galvatuc RtncisamJ

| li it \ ing this advantage ol more local application. They
! are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in
; the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all nervou- eomplaints, and as a positive remedy in cases
1 of Pain and \Veak,.e.-s i the Chest or Back, Pain in the
Side, in Asthma ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op

j a ltd they have often been used with complete success,
j Thev arc also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
Weakness ol the Breast, and are highly recommended
i for many of those complaints to which females are
I especially liable. As an effectual means for ' trengthen

( Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest
i generally the Galvanic Strcugf ening Plaster will be
found of great and permanenind vantage. In a few words
it embraces all the vitlues ol the best ionic preparation
With the important addition of tbe Galvanic influence,
