COTTON GINS!
DIPROTEDOX WHAT WAS UEFORE
CO A Sls) KitU 1> 1* £atKi :C T.
11l WE heretofore labored that my cotton gins
should be thought superior to any manufac
tured in Georgia. JAy offering to the [Audio such
an article I have been liberally patronized, tor
which I feel grtcful. i have warranted rny fine
gins. 1 have never had one returned as not com
ing up to what I promised. It is known i have,
and do promise that my gins make superior cot
ton. I have no travelling agents. 1 rely on mv
gins telling a better tale tor me. and one that will
be sooner believed than a travelling agent; in
short, 1 hope to make my gins sell themselves. 1
feel confident in staling that 1 have made valua
ble improvements in fine gins, and that 1 shall
hereafter furnish an impioved gin to anything
heretofore sold. 1 would also inform citizens ot
Warren, Washington, Wilkes, Columbia and
Burke Counties, that 1 have purchased Simpson’s
improvement fur band inachinety, and those w ho
purchase my gins in the counties named will have
the use of the patent tree; the material, when de
sired, will be put on the head block, tree ol charge.
It will require a small outlay of material on the
uiitid wheel, which will be furnished at the lowest
possible rale, and-which, w hen used, reduces the
draft loan astonishing extent; the character of
the improvement is simply by propelling tiie ma
chinery by a slack band, instead of a tight one.—
Mv finest Friction Roller Gins are sold at jj'3 per
saw.
aty plain gins are also greatly improved, and
will be so.d according to kind, from if. 2to £"2,50
per saw. i\l y lineal gins have heretofore sold
higher than other gins, an f yet, heretofore, 1
have not been able to supply the demand, whilst
1 have been unable to sell but few plain gins.
Orders or letters, addressed to me at Sparta,
will he promptly attended to, and gins delivered at
purchasers’ resident s, free of charge.

G. T. Ogi.ksby, Esft.— Dear Sir: —Below I
hand mv certificate, agreeably to your request,
stating precisely the opinion 1 entertain of their
superiority over any 1 have ever seen. I have
also obtained the certificate of Mr Wilson, our
Supeiintendant and Machinist, who is the best
judge of the quality of cotton, as he ‘chews the
ba« f .’ Very respectfully vour friend truly,
TLiOS. C MEE LEY.
Shoals of Ogecchee, Ga., 1817 This is to cer
tify that 1 have used two of Mr. G. T. Oglesby’s
Anti-Friction Coston Gins, (the one 60 and the
other 45 saws,) for several years, and can truly
say they are superior to any thing of the kind
now is use; and form an exception to what is
said about this being an age; of improvement, at
least as far as <nn making is concerned.
THOMAS CUEELEY.
Brothers' Factory , Shoals of Ogecchee, Ga.,
March 17 th, 1847. — This is to certify that one of
G. T. Oglesbv's 60 saw Anti-Friction Cotton
Gins is now, and has been in use for the last four
teen mouths at this place, and I cun say with con
fidence that it is the best article of the kind that 1
have yet seen.
B. J. Wilson, Super’t and Practical Machinist.
Savannah, Alurch 10 lh, 1817. — 1 lie under
signed, during the past season, have frequently
noticed the superiority of cotton, received from
those planters who use gins manufactured by G.
T. Oglesby, Esq., of Sparta, over that fiotn other
gins. It has in variably commanded the highest
price, and very frequently one-fourth ot a cent
i>er pound moie than other cottons ot the same
class. UA BUN h UL 1 ON.
J. L. SWINNEY.
Augusta, February "21th, 1847.—-The under
signed Factors and Commission Merchants, take
pleasure in recommending to the planters gene
rally, G. T Oglesby Ct Brother s improved make
ofgins, and do not lies tate to say that the cotton
ginned on them is equal to any received in this
market, and in every instance commands from an
I to 4c. above highest quotations, and in point of
durability think they cannot be supassed.

Augusta, February ’2(kh, 1017. — We lake
pleasure in recommending to planters generally
Messrs. Oglesby & Brother s improved cotton

February2o(h, IS 17.—1 have used one of the

above. BENJAMIN T. HARRIS.
Sparta, February loth, 1847.—This is to cer
tify, that 1 have owned one of Air. Oglesby’s im
proved cotton gins for two years, and can safely
recommend his gins fur two reasons. Ihe first,
that they do not cut the lint or staple as other
gins. The next, I consider them the most dura
ble gins that i have ever used.
M. G. HARRIS.
February 20th, 1847. Wc do certify, that we
have Used tor the years Mr. G. T. Ogles
