Strange Event.
■At a recent administration of the sacrament
at Cadiz, Ohio, while the members were at
the communion table, some six or eight persons
"Here attacked with a fever so suddenly, that
they were compelled to leave the church and
go home, whore they took to their beds. The
disease spread rapidly through the congregation,
and upwards of one hundred members have
been taken dangerously ill—while families
were prostrated, and a considerable number
’ have died.

txnost mysterious events we ever read of.

The cotton market is rather dull, and prices
are rather tending to favor the The
sales to-day are to the extent of 800 bales,
mostly to spinners.
The flour market continues firm, the stock
being light, and fresh ground in good demand.
Shippers offer $5 60 for Genesee, but are una
ble to get much at that rate. The sales to
day amount to 10,000 barrels ut 3 JO a $5 62£
for good strait Genesee.
There is but little doing in wheat. About
4,000 bushels white Ohio was taken at $1 21.
The demand for corn continues good, and ;
prices are maintained. The sales are to the I
extent of 20,000 bushels, at G 3 a 07 cents for
white and yellow.
Rye flour is firm and scarce, and sales are
making at $3 73 to a moderate extent.
W e are yet without any tidings of the steam- j
er Washington, which has now been out sev
enteen full days, if she sailed on the 10th. —
Those who are responsible for her seem to be
. considerably mortified, and it is now put out j
that-there is a probability she did not sail un- !

INFORMATION W ANTED.
If Y son, Robert T. Allen, has recently become
Iv-l mentally deranged, and in his paroxysm left
my house in Hall county, Geo., on the 15th inst., |
and took through the woods, running with all pos
sible speed. He came into the road some short
| distance above Lawrenceville, and then went di- ;
rectiy on to Decatur and Atlanta, and then return- |
ed to the Stone Mountain, Geo., which is the last |
place I have heard of him. Sometimes he would i
appear rational and enquire for a settlement that i
wanted a school teacher, and at other places he
would enquire for a recruiting officer and say he |
intended to enlist and go to Mexico.
Description.—He is about 23 years of age,
something over 6 feet high, spare made, pale com
plexion, blue eyes and thin visage.
