ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the
Blood or other fluids of the body.
Th" proprietor of this Alterative would rood re
st wctfully assure the public that he has not offered
t us preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion. and close and rigid study, nor until after
twelve years' experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other article of the kind.—
and he now rer mimends it with confidence, fully
believing that the above combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of diseases some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blond.
Canosr and Cancerous T amors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing bror.cao
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does rot wish to be understood as say
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much ce-tainty; and further, that
he has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula .emanate
Scrofula—King's Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous
rases of scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings, and always with the most decided success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and jaundiced skin. &c.
Dystoeosia and Inver CowolaUit.
It has beau Used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-Doulonreirx.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
Tills preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of case* of gout have been cured by
this preparation, ’ln one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
vears as to entirely disable him from business, and
for ii ve months immediately previous to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room - ,
hut before ke had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his affliction.
TV Owillla^,
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, bv
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.

In the spring of 18.31, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem N. J. It wag examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slighiest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfalness, until all Lope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced bv
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter, In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broke i in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
bad been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to it? removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
Sainful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
er the right arn) were enlarged; and scirrhns, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, an- |
peared in the left breast. No operation could no w
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
tdtobeamassol clisease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
bumption. The experiment was now made wi h
shis Alterative. It was at first given in smah doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it,
which was about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled ont at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left brea«t, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. He would also say that
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had
a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe,
as large as the half of an orange, which was cured
by usin» this Alterative for about four months.
Miss R 8 , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured ot an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing when she was but five
years old, and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
%nd she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can
be fount}. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

f'N offering this valuable medicine to the people
. of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
; eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim
for it infallibility; neither Jo I say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom

of the article in my own practice. This article is
f; vorably received wherever it has been used. 1

be added, who bear their testimony to its value.—
! Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others,
gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest
and most valuable medicines that can be used in
: imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in
billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil
lious fevers.and in sick or nervous head-ache. To
pregnant women, who are subject to costivcne«s,
this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state
I of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, I
it is particularly useful.

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL FILLS.
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal \
I Agents has ever been that in their process of pur- '
t station and purification, they lirve also Debilitated i
tte System. Hence Purgative 3ledicines have al- i
ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary i
Foil; Patients resorting to them for tb» refief of j
| one di-ease at the expense of another. To obviate i
this. Physicians have long sought for an Agent that
: would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN.
But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they
had almost despaired of success when the labors of
, science and research, were rewarded bv a discov
ery which fully realized*the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which i« justly regarded as
, one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named
Dr. Le Koy*s Vegetable Universal Pills.
Which Pu i/y the Jjlood, and remove ad co u/t
and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from
the body in a manner never before rivalled, and
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what
ever. but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and
! invigorate the constitution during the progress of
■ their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable
qualities. Evacuation and for they are
at the same time a STRENGTHENING PI’RGA
! TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
Ihe two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Lc Ploy's
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneltcia. ef
i feet of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purities; thus thev su
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges-
I live Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness.
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills arc the most active and search
| ing Jlediclne in existence. They at once attack |
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so j
prompt that in an hour or two after thev are taken, j
the patient is aware of their good effects. Thev
not only operate on the Flood, but also on the chyle, j
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good 1

by this method alone, effectually dissipates ali red- I

GALVANIC RINGS AND
M.igiictio Fluid.
THIS remarkable invention, which has received j
the almost universal approbation of the Medi
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en- |
application of Galvanism, as a remedial ;
agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic ;
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entireiv dispensed with, and the mysterious !
powers of G:tlvanisru applied without any of the
objections which are inseparable from the general
mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg
ular intervals,in which Galvanism is ap»plied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im
i partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy this radical defect, that this new applica- !
i tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and
perseverance has been brought to its present state
of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the
I purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in
i many other, respects are more safe and certain in
| accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Kings, used in connection with the
I Magnetic hluid , are Confidently recommended in
: nil disorders which arise fom an enfeebled or nn- ;
, healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those I
I complaints are among the most painful and univer- !
I sal to which we are subject. They arise, without i
: exception, to ore single cause—a derangement of i
the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that i
I other “ remedies ’’ having so often failed, a new |
i agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently j
! believed, has been found fn the propter and judi- i
i cions application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Kings have been used with entire
success in ali cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs: Goaf Tic-
Duloreux, Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous I
or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, (
Epilepsy, / 'its, ('ramp. Palpitation of the. Heart, Ap- j
poplexy, Stiffness of Joints. Spinal Complaints, Lum- !
bago , Neuralgia, Xe>-vocs Tremors, Dizziness of the ;
Head, Pams in the Chefit and Side, General Debil
ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and j
all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys- |
pejtsia, which is simply a nervous chfaiigement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary effects niton the
sv.stem must be witnessed tube believed, and as a
certain Preventive for the preceding complaints
they are equally recommended. The Pings ar* of
different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn bv the
most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation is rather |
h!e than otherwise.
The Galvanic Dracelets, Rands.
Garters, Necklaces, Ac.
In some cases of a very severe character and of
■ long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic \
Kings is nol sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv- |
ed modification in the Galvanic Pelfs, Bracelets,
S;c., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
of power that is required can readily be obtained,
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re
lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arras,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
| used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
| as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Pits, and
! similar complaint*.
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLITD.
Is issued in connection with ttie Galvanic Kings,
■ and all their modifications. This composition has
j been pronounced by the French C hemists to be
I one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mnd
i ern science. If is believed to possess a remarkable
' piower of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
| action, by these means causing a circulation of the
i influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra
j pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
| chemistry is known to produce the same effect or
| to impart a similar property to the nervous system
| by means of an outward local application. The
.Magnetic Plaid contains nothing capable of the
I slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it
is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its
i result. The combined inventions are in every wav
1 perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach
■ of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial,
as a lest of their surprising efficacy and permanent
i benefit.
Christie's Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
The*e articles form another valuable application
and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They i
; are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic \
I Kings and their modifications, acting upon the
j same principle, but having this advantage of more
local ap(hication. They are confidently recom
j mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure
i of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous
i complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of
■ Fain and Weak ess in the. Chest or Back, Pain in
j the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in V\ eakness
1 or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi-
I nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided
i character, and they have often been used with
I complete success. They are also of the greatest j
j advantage in Pain* and Weakness of the Breast. !
1 and are highly recommended for many of those !
i complaints to which females are especially liable.
As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys
tem when debilitated by disease or oPter causes;
i as a certain aid in C onstitutional Weakness, as a
; Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the
Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Pias
ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage.
In a few words, it embraces ali the virtues of the
| best toric preparation with the important addition
of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
j ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
| articles will be found entirely free from those oh- ;
I jections which arc a constant source of complaint
with the ordinary Plasters in common use.

TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.!
375 Bowery, JN. Y.
MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump- i
tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or
| Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
| ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West
j Chester County New York.
Tarrytotvn, Aug. 9, ICI 1.
Dear Doctor —It is difficult to find words to ex- |
! press the gratitude which I feel towards you for
; the interest you have taken to relieve me in ray ;
distress. In the year 18-12 I contracted a heavy I
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
j months after, I commenced coughing and raising !
offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having 1
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
coughs 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they had ;
not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the i
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
I few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three
bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau “treets, j
but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect
from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in
jury to me. Shortly after using it, 1 commenced
, raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down |
I sick and confined to the house for three months,
during which time I lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
city,) but he could do me no good. I again became
worse, and was confined to the house ail last winter
and spring, and 1 gave up all hope of ever getting
I any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
was very severe, together with a pain in my
breast and under the shoulder blade. 3ly friends
now gave tip ail hope of my recovering, and thought
every day was the last. About this time 1 heard
of your BALSAM OF’ LIV ERWORT being good j
for consumption, but I was like many others, and
was fearful that it might he a regular humbug; I
however finally consented to try it, as 1 thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N . Y., and I
commenced taking it, and by the time ] hud used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the
morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. 1 still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from i;—the
pain in mv breast is entirely gone, and I raise no
more blood. Within the last two months 1 have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
I would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him fall on m : c, and I will convince him of its
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.
Beware of counterfeits, the only genuine has an
engraved label (over the outside wrajmer of each
