Sand’s Sarsaparilla.
Fever is one of the most frequent and dangerous
diseases to which the human body is liable. Its
first impression is upon the nervous system, then
the vessels ol the skin become deranged, produc
ing dryness and burning heat. After this the gene,
ral system is involved, and the patient sinks beneath
the attack, unless relieved by appropriate reme
dies. Noxious effluvia and various miasma are the
cause ot fever, being infused throughout the atmos
phere, and then breathed into the lungs, when the
poison combines with the impure fluids of the body
and is carried by the circulating organs to the rami
fications of the system. If, then, the animal frame
is kept in a perfect, sound and healthy state, and
every organ performing its functions properly
there can be no union of the predisposing cause
which is the noxious effluvia or marsh miasm, with
the exciting, which is an impure state of the
and depraved condition, and consequently no dis
ease.
For further particulars and conclusive evidence
of its superior value and efficacy, see pamphlets
which may be obtained from agents, gratis.'

Mr. Seth W. Fowle;
Dear Sir—l hereby certify that one year ago last j
June, 1 was violenty attacked with a cold and cough,
with a lame side and stomach, and was not free from
a cough during that summer. In December follow
ing, my cough increased to an alarming extent, so
that during that winter 1 lost about thirty five pounds
of flesh, and physicians with whom I advised, could
give me no relief. It was thought by all that I should
never recover. As my goodfortuue would have it,
in March following, after suffering exceedingly
through the winter. I heard of the beneficial effects
of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, byway of a
friend who had received the greatest benefit by
the use of the article, and was inclined by him to
make a trial of it myself, and no words can express
my obligations to that friend for thus recommend
ing this article to me, and at the critical moment he
did, for 1 had not taked up one bottle before I was
completely cured, and from that day to this have
not been troubled with a cough. I can cheerfully
recommend it to all, as being a remedv of great
value, hoping others may be induced to use it, and
thus become Convinced of its merits, and perhaps
saved from the fatal grasp of consumption.

I.ATKST DATES FROM HVEKPOOt,. .w. .•• JULY 14.
LATEST DATES FROM HAVR;O...v>w..JULY 13.
Extracts of letters received in this city, dated
LIVERPOOL, July 19th, 1847.—The weather
since our last has continued as favorable as could
be desired for the growing crops of Grain, which
are rapidly advancing to maturity, and promise a
harvest somewhat earlier than the average of
years. On the other hand there are reports of
blight and rust having appeared in the whea« in
some districts, which may or may not prove of con
sequence. The crop of beans is with more cer.
tainty considered to be injured by insects, and as to
potatoes accounts arc still very conflicting.
The seasonable weather and heavy foreign sup"
ply have caused increased dullness in our Corn
Market, with some further depression in prices,
and we have now to quote flour 32s to 34s per bbl.
the latter being the extreme value of the best fresh
Western Canal, while Orleans, or any other descrip
tion showing a tendency to become sour, may be
bought at 30 a 31s per bbl. Parcels actually sour, 27
a 28s. Indian corn of the best quality has declined
to 12s per quarter, and inferior parcels, free from
damage, must be quoted as low as 34 a 38s; parcels
unsound and out of condition, 25 a 335. Indian corn
meal very dull at 19 a 19s fid |>er bbl, American
wheal 8s fid to 10s 9d l?cr 70 lbs. Speculative ope
rations still quite suspended.
We noticed in our last, of 3d inst., that the Cot
ton market had closed heavily th it day, with a turn
in favor of buyers, and at the close of that week
the quotations were reduced |dper lb. but during
the past week the demand was again better, with
considerable purchases for export, and the above
decline was recovered, making our quotations as
before—say for fair Upland and Mobile 7|, and fair
Orleans 7|. The sales for the week ended 16th
hist., amounted to 40,160 hales, of which 11,000
were taken on speculation, and 7,600 for export. —
The American descriptions s >ld consisted of 9470
Upland, at 6| a 8J; 13,380 Orleans, at fi| a 8J; 4,490
Alabama and Mobile, at 6.J a 7|; and IGO Sea Is
land, at 13 to 20d per lb. On Saturday, the 17th
inst. the business was about 4000 bales, and to-day
about 5000, without any speculation, and the mar
ket more quiet. The future course of the market
must depend mainly on the subsequent accounts of
the growing American crop, the advices hitherto
being pretty generally looked upon here as nearly
conclusive that it will prove a moderate, if not a
short one.
The money market has become more stringent,
and the foreign exchanges less favorable for this
country, so that the rate of interest keeps high,
hut without any extreme pressure.
HAVRE, July 15.— Cottons.- —Although there
has been no improvement as regards prices of Cot
ton, during the past se’nnight, there is nevertheless
a much better feeling manifested, within these two
or three days, both on the part of holders and deal
ers. Up to the close of last week, business in gen
-cral wore a very dull appearance, the transac
tions were of a trifling description, and a decline of
f. 1 a 1 5C took place in those grades which had
previously been in favor; but since the opening of
the present week, the market has recovered from
the flatness that had before predominated, buyers
from the trade have evinced less reluctance to
operate, and the sales averaged daily 1,200
bales. Prices have rallied, and nearly regained
the ground they had lost on Saturday last. Specu
lators however still keeping aloof, the buying has
been confined to the wants for consumpton; but aa
the prospects for the approaching harvest are of a
most cheering nature, and prices of
everywhere undergoing a rapid decline, confidence
is becoming more general, and some amendment
rtiay soon be anticipated. The next advices from
the L nited States will no doubt be mainly instru
mental in this point, as they are expected
to contain information of a more decided character
as to the extent of the crop, and the future ship
ments to the European ports, thah that which has
hitherto reached us. The arrival of the Cambria
steamer, bringing dates to Ist inst., is therefore
daily looked forward to with a more than ordinary
i degree of interest. The sales of the week were
> 5,671 bales, of which 1,798 Upland at f. 96 a 104
i The imports during the same period amount t(
1,988 bales.

New York, August 3—5, P. M.,
The receipt of private letters by the Hiber
nia this morning, has not had the effect of im
proving the market for breadstuff's, though it
is still unsettled and rather depressed.
1 lie sales ol flour to-day have been light,
buyers not coming into the market with any
freedom; and but few holders are prepared to
operate. The aggregate sales of flour this
morning do not exceed 5000 brls, and the high
est price obtained was $5 37£ for Genesee, and
$5 26 for Michigan. 'The supply of Southern
is so small that quotations are nominally as
before.
There is nothing scarcely doing in wheat,
buyers and sellers being unable to agree. I
hear only of a sale of 600 bushels [description
not understood] at {sl 05 per bushel.
Corn has suffered slightly again to-day, and
operations have been light. The sales are
about 10,000 bushels, ranging from 59 to 61
cents for mixed, and 52 a G 4 for flat and round
yellow.
Rye is more firm than other descriptions of
grain, commanding, with small sales, from 81
to 87i cents, according to quality.
Small sales of Indian meal, western, are
making at $2 75, hut the market is dull.
The cotton market is firm, and rather active.
The sales reported are to the extent of 2,000
! bales, at full prices, mostly for shipment. The
quotations are fully d cent above those of the
early part of last week.
There is one steamer not yetin—the Guadale
quiver, Capt. Ilosken—which was to have
sailed from-Liverpool on the 20th ult. No ti
dings have vet been received from her.
