A TEST DATES FROM HA VRj JULY 13.
SAA r ANNAII, Aug. 6.— Cotton. —Arrived since
Jult 31st, 111) bales Upland per Rail-Road. The
exports lor same period have been 657 Uplands and
30 bales Sea Island to Boston, and 22 bales Upland
to Charleston, in all 697 bales Upland and 30 bales
Sea Island, leaving a stock on hand and on ship
board not cleared, of 186 bales Sea Islands, and 5,-
768 bales Upland, against 223 bales Sea Islands, and
6)963 bales Upland at same time last year.
our last review the accounts of the W ash
injrton to the 16th and the Hibernia to the 20th
.1 uly, have been received. These accounts have had
no material influence here, the quantity of Cotton
bn the market being so limited. r I he past week
lias been exceedingly dull. We have sales ol 85 i
bales lo report, viz. : 36 bales at 11;|; 19 at 11$; 8 at |
II i; 16 at 11; and 15 at 10^-
Rice. —The sales are confined strictly to the retail j
trade, and we have nothing to report.
Flour —We notice a sale of 91 bbls. Georgia at i

Com —Is retailing m small quantities at 55 a Gsc. j
No sales of consequence this week.
bundles Northern has been sold from
tfie wharf at 68c. , and 3(3 bundles inferior at 62^c.
J Groceries. —The sales of the week are as follows:
78 bhls. Gin at 33 a3t cents per gallon. 60 hhds.
Cuba Molasses at 22 cents; and 60 bbls. New Or
leans Whiskey at 26 cents.
Bdton.-~- 20,000 pounds Hog Round have been
Sold at 7 cents per lb.
Enduing*. —We quote Sterling bills nominally at j
■1 to 6 per cent. prem. Domestic remains as last I
quoted. The Banks sell Sight Checks on the North- !
era cities at \ per ct. prem. They purchase sight
to five day checks at par; 30 day bills ut and 60
at IJ.
Freights. —-Foreign.—-To Liverpool, nominal.—
Coastwise —For New York, the rates are ,|c. for
square, and |c. for round bales cotton. To Boston, j

for round bales cotton. To Baltimore and Phila
delphia. £c. per lb. for square and round bales cot
toij. To Providence, A a §c.
CHARFiLSTON. Vug. 7. 'Won. —When we left
the market on Friday last, it was very quiet, ren
dered so partly by the non-arrival of the accounts i
per the Washington, and partly to the high preten
sions of holders; to this cause, however, is mainly to
be attributed the stagnant state of the market at
the time, for as the week drew to a close, sellers {
w lukl occasionally obtain an ascendency over buy- 1
ter>, but it was not of such a marked character as
to induce us to change our quotations, as it will he
recollected that we referred to them for a fair in
dex of the governing rates; but since that period
« decided change has been effected in favor of the :
holder. During the present week we have receiv
ed the advices by the steamer Washington, and
-iiliore recently those by the Hibernia. Although
these accounts show no positive advance in prices,
Insiders from their tenor .see, or think they see, a fa
vorable future for the article, which, taken in con
nection with the very unfavorable and truly alarm
ing intelligence which continues to reach us in re
lation to the growing crop, not only in this .State,
but throughout almost the whole Gotten producing
region, have given a material impetus to prices.
On Saturday last we do not think that a single hale
w|s sold. On Monday and Tuesday some little in
quiry prevailed, and during these two days upwards !
of 4( 0 hales changed hands at -advancing rates. |
On Wednesday the demand had increased, and
at the close of business'Boo bales were reported to
hake been sold, at a full Jc. advance on the transue
t.iofis of the preceding >veek; and during Thursday
about an equal proportion of business was done,
wijlh this dilference, however, that a greater ad
vantage was obtained over purchasers on some
classification. Yesterday the market was again
brought to a stand still, both on account of the in
clement state of the weather and an unwillingness
on the part of buyers to pay the rates required-
We have changed onr quotations to correspond
vUitli the actual sales of Wednesday and Thursday,
and a reference lo them will show an advance of I
a |c. above those current on the 31st ultimo. The
receipts of the week reach 620 bales, and the sales
in the corresponding period comprise 2020 bales, 1
at the following prices:—2oo hales at I0A;3l8at 11;
207 at. 111; 33 at I lg; 188 at 171 at Ilf; 708 at 12;
170 at I 2A 4 ; and 8 hales ut I3c. peril). The transac
tions in Long Cotton have been confined to a few
small lots Sea island at prices ranging from 23 to
37c. per lb.
Corn. —The market is abundantly supplied, and
the demand during the week has been limited. Our
remarks are of course confined to that received by !
the Hail Road, which we denominate as and
Country. These receipts find their wav into so j
many hands, that it is difficult to give quotations
with the accuracy we should wish, but believe that
65c. will cover all the transactions. Wc under
stand that the WOO bushels from Tennessee, report- i
ed in our last, have been sold at 70c. per bushel. |
Received per Rail Road 6820 bushels.
Flour —Some little transactions, in small parcels,
have been made in country Flour, at prices rang
ing from M to ,£6 a s’<!A per barrel, according to
quality. The receipts per Rail Road are 40 bar
rels.
Silt. —There have been received during the
week some 1700 sacks, which were sold sold at $1
per sack.
Fr> lights . —We continue to quote to Liverpool,
Cotton, in square bags. 7-16ths a £d. Nothing up
for Havre. To New York and Boston the rate is
nominally Jc. for t'otton in square hags.
NEW \ORK, August L— Cotton. —The market
since our last has been active at gradually stiffen
ing prices, closing firmly at an advance of fully
of a cent per lb. This condition of things is owing
in part to unfavorable advices with regard to the
growing crop, and partly to the European advices
noticed above, which are considered favorable.—
The sales since our last are 7100 hales, of which
3.500 bales were Upland and Florida, thus:
Ord. to good ord. a 111; Mid. to good mid.
114 a 11|; mid. fair to fair, 12j a 12$; Fuily fair to
good fair, a 13|.
Freights. —Cotton, square and round bales, per
lb. Jd. To Havre, J a Ic.
£ Corresjjondence of the Baltimore Sun.]
By Magnetic Telegraph.
New York, August 4—6, P. M,
The market continues firm for flour, with a good
demand for home use, but there are no shippers in
market. The sales to-day have been from 3,000 to
4,000 barrels at $5 62£ for Genesee, and $5 50 for
straight Michigan and Ohio. Holders are firm, !
and some decline operating at these rates.
There is but little activity in wheat, sales being
confined to inferior sorts. About 6.000 bushels of
{State spring wheat was sold at $1 02 per bushel.
For Genesee $1 33 a $1 35 is asked.
The holders of corn are very firm, and have de
Gianded an advance to day, which has been partially
conceded. The sales are to the extent of 10.000
budbels at 63 a65 for mixed and 65 a 70 for flat
and mound yellow.
The Cotton market continues good and the de
mand buoyant, mostly for shipment. The saleS to
day are about 1,000 bales, at prices showing an
advance ofJ to | cent within a few days.
Freights are steady at 3s. 6d. and for flour
And grain to Liverjiool.
The first parcel of new western flour was re
ceived yesterday. It came from Hiram Smith, 1
Wheatland, and is held at $7, Mr. Smith has de
livered the first flour in this market for the last five
years.
