The Weather. —The weather yesterday, in a
sanatory point of view, was more favorable
than it has been for some time, and consequent
ly less agreeable to the senses. A warm and
sultry morning, varied by a light and much
cloudiness and sultriness of atmosphere in the
middle of the day, and continuing quite warm
until sundown, gave the day a more common
place summer}/ aspect than any we had this
month. Much of such quiet, regular weather,
will soon terminate the career of the yellow
fever, whose dire hunger seems to be heigh
tened and sharpened by the cool breezes whicji
have fanned our city for some days past. — X.

A Treasure in a Tea Kettle —The clerk of a
hardware store in Cincinnati, put a hundred
and fifty dollars in a tea kettle for safe keeping,
and while he was out of the way, the master
of the shop sold the kettle for seventy-five
cents, not suspecting the treasure it contained.
The customer was so satisfied with his bargain
that he had not been seen at the same store
since.
A Good Hit.
A noted caricaturist hits off the attempts of
the whigs to pile their party duds on “Rough
and Read,”yas follows:-‘The old general is pre
paring to lead his columns to the attack of a
Mexican force, and the whigs have tied their
“gocart” filled with Corwin’s speeches, to bis
coat-tail, and are preparing to jump in them
selves —hugely satisfied, thus far, with their
trick. As he starts, his coat-tail brings him
up with a jerk, which nearly throws him off
his legs, and he discovers, in a great rage, the
cause. Turning upon them with his sword he
cuts the rope, and knocks them right and left,
crying out “you rascals ! you are worse than
the Mexicans !” The Boston Atlas, New York
Express, and Albany Evening Journal are run
ning away as fast as their legs can carry them,
and yelling out to their comrades, “Let the old
fool go ! he wont work in our harness !” It is
a decided hit, and will make the lithographer’s
fortune. —Nine Haven Register.

Chicago, 111., March 27, 1815.
Dr. D. Jayke— Dear Sir. — You ask me what
proof I meet with of the efficacy Os your Carmina
tive. 1 can safely say that I never prescribed a
medicine for Bowel Complaints that has given me
so much satisfaction, and my patients so speedy
and perfect relief _as this. Whenever introduced
into a family, it becomes a ftandir> remedy for
those ailments, a'nd is called for again and again
which I think a pretty good proof of its efficacy
and usefulness. In the Summer Complaint of chil
dren, it has frequently appeared to snateh the lit
tle victims, as it were, from the grave. “It saved
the life of thf child, and of such and such a child/’,
I have repeatedly heard said. In discnteric affec
tions of adults, I have time and again seen it act
like Vchanfr, abd give permanent relief in a few

A single statement like th i following ought to
be a sufficient inducement to any one suffering
with diseased lungs to make a trial of IFistar’s
Balsam, and test its virtues in their own case.

j»lr. >S. W. Fowler—Dear Sir : I take pleasure in
statin o- to youmv experience in the use of Y\ istar s |
Balsam of Wild Cherry.
Sometime in February, 1815, I was attacked
with a difficulty of the lungs, which brought me j
in appearance, to the brink of the grave. I con- I
suited tho*e who were called skillful physicians,
who pronounced my case incurable. My friends
at night did not expect to find me alive in the morn
ing. I was induced as a last resort to try Wistar’s
Balsam, and after taking the first bottle I found
great relief. 1 continued to use it, and after taking
four bottles I considered myself cured, and for the
last year T have had no occasion to use any medi
