ARE in a state of rapid and handsome improve
ment 'l'hc lintel is a three story building, 160
foot long and 106 feet wide, containing about 60
comfortable rooms, besides the drawing room, hall
room and dining rooms, which are large, splendid
and commodious. There nre also sixteen Cabins
attached to the hotel, with fire-places, constructed
for the accommodation ol families.
The improvements were began since the first ol
January last, and will ha ready to receive company
by the lOlh of June next. The Hold Company arc
determined to give good accommodations, and
charge as low or lower than the Greenville prices.

a Til IS comfortable establishment is re
opened by its former proprietor, and will
ho in a slate ofreadiness for the reception
of families and other persons by the middle of May.
The proprietor has gone to great expense in enlarg
ing and refitting the whole establishment inside and
out, nil of which will ho neat, clean and cumlbrla
hie. The stables and carriage houses are extensive,
and well suited to the purposes for which ihuy are
designed, hi short, the proprietor thinks lie will
hazard nothing, in pledging that this establishment,
in tlie general, shall he inferior to nano in the
southern stales; whatever comforts that can be
command d from the resources of the surrounding
country, will he afforded to Ins guests, in a manner,
he trusts, that will bo entirely to their satisfaction.
The establishment will be enlarged the present sea
son, to upwards of thirty rooms—and charges the
same as at the other public houses in the village.
The proprietor llalters himself that he is 100 well
known to the public to render it necessary for him
to offer to them testimonials of his abilities or de
sire, to render those who favor him with their com
pany, in all respects easy and comfortable. His
pride and interest nre both at slake in sustaining the
beautiful village ol Gainesville, winch presents as
many advantages as a summer retreat, as any olhur
spot mirth or south. If, llierelbre,atiheral southern
public will afford a sufficient patronage to justify
the devolopement and concentration of the va
rious resources ol the surrounding country so ns to
bring them into action lor (heir comlort and con
venience, they may he assured that the means thus
afforded the proprietor of this establishment shall
he liberally applied lo its improvement and I lie pro
curcment of every comfort ikey can require, until
it shall loose nothing by comparison with any
other of the kind, north, south, east or west —with-
out n liberal patronage, however, it is evident pub
lic expectation cannot he met. If the advantages of
an unexceptionable climate, superior water, with
several medicinal springs, (one of which is acknow
ledged by the must competent judges to be excelled
by none in the southern slates,) fine roads in every
direetion, and good society, are inducements su/li

BY an act of the General Assembly of the slate
of Georgia, assented to the 26th Uerember, 1836,
it is made he duty of the inferior courts ol the sev
eral counties of said state, bordering on,or which
navigable waters pass through, to cause to be pub

i neral assembly, regulating boat owners, their agents
and patroons, navigating said waters,
i By the aforesain acts every boat navigating the
• Savannah or Broad rivers, are required to have a

to exhibit to any while person, who may wish to
examine the contents of the boat under their charge
) showing the name ol said patroon and consignee ol

tled the estate of said deceased, and praying letters

CAOL. BROWN of Brown’s Ferry, took from the
one bead guard Chain with“Wm Flour
noy August 22; 1834,” w orked in it with gold beads;
also, one fulljewelled double-cased hunting watch,
with gold guard chain and key—the watch has
' three letters on the front case—the ow ner, or any of
his relations can get it by describing letters nnd prov
n g properly. If no application be made i.i four
months, the watch will be sold and the proceeds di
vided among tlie troops,—application to be made to
the editor of the Columbus Herald for the bead
chain, and lor tlie Watch to Col Brown.
The Columbus Herald will copy the above and
