Cutting’ a Beo Tree in Coffee

The sweetest story this season
Comes from Coffee^ county:
Mr. John White, jr\ found a hoc
tree a short time ago, uiuV nfler pro
curing help cut it down, anft. aljtey.
talcing all^the honey out Mr. White
discovered tlio Queen bco crawling
about in tholog where the honey had
been taken from. Taking her in his
fingers, lie walked to a pond near by
and washed all the honey off the bee.
Ho then carried her back to the tree
where the. bees wore flying around
when they began at oneo to settle on
his hand and in a few minutes every
bee that was able to fly had settled
there, making a wad of bees as large
as a common water bucket. White
was about two miles from home, and
carried the bees on liis hand ami
hived them. Thoy aro at work and
doing well. —Hawkinsville Dispatch.

work is well executed. We cheer
fully commend the Post to the favor

OLD UNCLE JACK PERRY’S
MONEY AGAIN.
Tlie Widow and Rawls’ Wife
in Jail.
Strong Feeling and much Excite
ment.
The Post gave last week a state
ment of tho grounds on which Mr.
Edward Perry had Mrs. John Perry
and Rawls’ wife arrested. Tho trial
came off last Friday. We hoped (as
did every ono else) that the testimo
ny in tho caso would bo thoroughly
sifted* But such was not th$ busi
ness of the Ordinary’s Court. It was
only to decide a question of law, as
is sot forth with great clearness and
strength in the following decision of
Judge Duncan, which will better
explain the status than anything we
could say.
Laurons Court of Ordinary,
At Chambers, July 20, 1878
Ann Perry &
Susan Perry
vs ) Habeas Corpus
J. C. Scarborough
Dept. Sheriff
This case dismissed as to Susan
Porry, she having failed to swear to
tho petition—or any one else for
her—J. C. Scarborough Deputy
Sheriff having produced Mrs. Ann
Porry in Court, with his answer set
ting forth that ho is holding said
party in custody under, and by vir
tue of a writ of Trover und Bail front
Laurens Superior Court at tho in
stance of Edward Perry, Executor of
John Perry Sr. vs Ann Perry and
Susan Perry, for the recovery of a lot
of gold and silver ebin and United
States currency.—And the only ques
tion beforo this Court being, is the
party legally hold in custody?—This
Court of the opinion, from a eare-
fut cKainination of said Bail writ that
isifd Edward Perry, Ex’r, has fully
complied with Sections 3118 and
3419 of the code.—And tho princi
ple involved in this case having beon
fully decided by the Supromo Court
in tho caso of Harris vs Bridges, in
57th Ga. page 407, tho other question
before this Court—is gold and silver
cfljn and United States currency per
sonal proporty? This Court not
having access to a law dictionary,
cannot give tlio legal definition; but
taking, tho definition of personal
proporty as laid down in Webster’s
Dictionary, viz, Personal Property
consists in things belonging to tho
person, as, rnonoy, jewels otc., in
distinction from real property, Which
consists in houses and lands. There
fore this action 'being for gold and
silver coin and United States curren
cy, and that being personal proporty,
and tho said Ed ward Porry Ex’r hav
ing fully complied with said sections,
3418 and 3419 of tho code in bring
ing said action of Trovor and Bail,
and said J. C. Scarborough Doputy
Sheriff having only done liis legal
duty in arresting said Ann Perry and
holding lior in custody.—Therefore
this Court is of the (/pinion that
said Ann Perry is legally hold in
custody by said J. O. Scarborough
Doputy Sheriff. It is thoroforo or
dered by the Court that this writ of
Habons Corpus bo, and is heroby dis
missed at tho applicant’s cost—and
that said Ann Perry bo remanded
back into tlio custody of tho Doputy
Sheriff of said county, ’tho samo as if
this writ of, Ilabeus Corpus' hud not
been issued,
/- Johu-T. Duncan,
Jnly 20, 1878. Ordinary.
Tho above decision was not reached
till Monday morning. Tlio two
women were placed in jail tho same
day, where they now remain. Wo
understand that tho women’s attor
neys have applied for a now Writ of
Habous Corpus beforo Judge Pate,
and that tho now trial will come off
in Ilawkinsvillo noxt Tuesday. But
while this ipart of the programme is
boing'vjgffonsly pnsheth, thdvomerhls-
attorneys have turned a double back
summersault, and ordered ! tho arrest
of Mr. Edward Perry, on the ground
that he hits tlio gold and silver iu
question, and that it is tlio property
of tho widow!!! IIo is, at the hour
of going to press, looking round for
a bond, which, it is presumed, he
will find no difficulty in making.
Tho plot thickens. What next?
