On time beingjiullcd the “ladies”
stepped tip nimbly and faced each
other, smiling viseiously. After a
few minutes’ sparring Miss Burke let
go her left, and delivered a terrific
hit on Mias Wella’ nose, receiving a
light counter on the forehead. The
two hlotvs stirred the fighters, and
they wont at it desperately, pounding
each other severely at half-arm dis
tance, amid great excitement and
chcoring erica from their friends.
Mil* Wells lmd tho best of tho in
fighting, and forcing Alins Burke to
the ropes, closed with her. Harry
Hill separated them by main force,
and t hey retired to their comers. '
In the second round Miss Burke
aasumed the defensive, but, receiving
a. well-directed blow from Miss Wells’
left, hand, sho quickly changed her
tactics,and delivered a stinging right
hander on her antagonist’s jaw, which
h i. i ggored hor, and brouirh t out shouts
of delight from tho audience.
Both pugilists now forced the flgh t-
ing, and Miss Burko rattled away,
driving in light and left on Miss
Wolls’ fueo, which reddened like a
beet. The latter boldly stood up and
faced tho mitBio, however, fighting
back with Home offect.
Miss Burko scorned to have tho
greater stamina, and sho drove Miss
Wells to tho ropes, and both indulg
ed in hard knocks until timo was
called, when they again retired to
tlieir cornel’s. Both showed tho
marks of hot work. Miss Burke’s
nose was red, and spreading over hor
face, while her forehead showed tho
effects of the hard blmys of hor oppo

she had been roughly handled; her
lip was bleeding, and her noso was
also damaged. Pour rounds more
wore fought, in which tho women
fought fiercely and blood flowed, but

sigh for the fasliionublomoasuro of
plumpness, and who would bo vastly
improved in health and appearance

good, solid ilotdt. Nothing is more
coveted by thin women than a full
figure, and nothing will so rouse tho
ire, and provoke the scandal of one of
these “clipper builds," us tlio CPU*
seiousuess of plumpness in a nvttl.
In eases of fever and summer com
plaint, milk is now given with exivl-
ient results. Tho idea (luvt milk is
“feverish” has exploded, and it is
now the physician’s grant reliance in
bringing through typhoid patients,
or those in loo Iowa state to ln>nour
ished by solid food. It is a mistake
to scrimp the milk-pitcher. Take
move milk, and buy less moat. Look
to your milkman, have large-sized,
well-filled milk-pitchers on (he table
each meal, and you will also haw
sound iiosh and light'doctor's hills.
But one thing is of the first impor
tance, viz., that the milk must he
pure and sweet. Milk which comes
from badly fed cows, or which has
been kept till it becomes stale, is
worse than worthless food. It-
will breed a terrible train of evils.
There avo not many stomachs which
can comfortably digest milk which is
twenty-four hours old. Para, now
milk, warm from the cow, if taken
in moderation, will not constipate
nor occasion heaviness or headache.
