Potatoes are selling in some portions of the State at‘fifteen cents per bushel. You can get your blanks printed at this office in good style and ou short notice. It matters not how hard die times may be you can’t afford to do without the Post. Mr. Dennis Kealins lately lost thirty-five or forty head of fine bogs with cholera. It has now been six months since the Post saw the light. A healthy bantling, eh V Messrs. R. .T. Hightower and B. .T. Wood of Johnson county were in town a day or two ago. Last Saturday was a live day in. Dublin, made so by the stir to raise money to meet the tax gatherer on his last round. Judge Mercer Haynes's reappointment to tiie County Judge-hip was confirmed by the Senate on the 7th inst. His reappoint ment we think gives lively satisfaction throughout the county. It is said that corn can lie bought at forty cents per bushel for the cn h in Dub lin. It is worth-fifty in trade. The Post would like to have about fifty subscribers to pay iu corn at fifty cents per bushel. Ramsay, Mr. B. II. Rawls and 3ILss Mary E. Cummings. May this young and handsome couple make life u grand success. The coutract for the Wrightsvillc and Dublin mail route expires on the 81st inst. But wc have the word of Onl. Blount for it, that the route shall be made permanent. The necessary {pipers have been forward ed, which we hope will reach Washington in time to prevent the loss of a single trip. Wc dropped in on Iasi Friday night at the church to hear the music of tiie “Dub lin Vocal Club.” So far as we were.able to judge we thought the singing excellent. This club will do much good in the way of improving chinch and Sabbath school mu sic, nor is the social feature of the club without its benefits. Mr. Andy Fuqua caught a fox on last Friday night after a long and exciting chnse. With sorrow we chronicle the death of little Willie D. Coney infant sou of Hon. Joel T. Coney one of our most honored citizens. He was an unusually bright and interesting child. Though only two years and three months old he was as well ad vanced as most children at five. He was the idol of his fond mother’s heart, the center of all the earthly hopes of his doting father and the pride of the entire commu nity. We tender them our sympathy *n their groat loss, lmt. comfort them with the. assurance that “dear little Willie” is in safer hands to keep hint, and under surer prelection, and more honored nnd linppy than if their fondest hopes for him on earth had been realized. The trials and disappointments of life are escaped, and he is freed from the cruel task of life’s respon sibilities. “Shed not for him the bitter tear Nor pine with deep regret. ' ’Tis lmt the casket buried here The gem is sparkling yet. ” It. No Paper Next Week. Some weeks sigo a wedded pair of the sable descendants of Hum, living a few miles east of town, were made to rejoice over the birth of twins— bot h boys—-who wore' duly christened Elbert and Albert. But, ere many moons had waxed and waned the fond parents were culled upon to en dure .the sad affliction of seeing one of their offspring depart to be an angel, when In! it was found tlm-l tiie father was grieving for the loss oi Albert, while the mother refused to lie comforted because Albert wa not. Both were positive as to which child had died, and long and fierce grew the debate. But as all disputes must come to an end sooner or later, this matter was finally settled. H was a local bill, and its introduction was the result of the lawyers saying it was not a local bill, but the Speaker differed. This member doos not be lieve in too much legislation. He is a very practical legislator, and is always in his seat. He is a member of two committees, to-wit: Wild Lands and Agricultural committees. All of lus legislative conduct goes to prove that he is in favor of retrench ment in the expenses of the State, lie is quiet in his deportment, and is much respected bv all the memliors of the House, lie was opposed to uny change iu equalizing the labors of judges o*f the Superior Courts, so far us relates to Laurens county. The people of Laurens county cannot send a more practical legislator to represent them. Douglas. Montgomery News. Mr. T. M. Hightower of Dublin, was in town on tiie 11th inst. As the manufact urers of guaiio’iiuve resolved nob to sell guano at the prices hitherto charged for it, 1 respectfully sug gest that tho planters meet eii masse at the court house in Wrightsvillc oil Tuesday the 31st inst. for the purpose of coming to soino under standing in regard to tho matter and passing appropriate resolutions in regard to what the urioo shall here after bo. It is well known that the guano debt is always the first debt paid and at the expense ‘ of other creditors. Therefore it js nothing hut right that tho prices of guano should be reduced instead of advan ced, hence I make this call. Tiie report doubtless grew out of my sometimes Jocularly-telling my friends Unit 1 had been pushed out of the field. But I desire to state positively that 1 am still a candidate, and will under no circumstances withdraw from the canvass, and most respectfully submit my claims to the voters of Johnson county.
