We hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Offcn

the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a

5 Radical Cure oi ilermaor Rupture, by Dr.
’ Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
1 rgAHE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
If store of Messrs. J. J, Robertson & Co., for the
, treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. Fie has now used
1 them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by tiie
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of j
the profession, as the best known means of me- 1
cbanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
Tiie foLowing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city. ;
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly' upon presenting a certificate,from
ble person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every variety- of reducible rupture,

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF

AYR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
docs not belong to the family of quack medicines;
for the reason that the component parts are made
known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by- any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx

Noith has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting !e
be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosuiu

Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great bcnelits of
which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they
1 rofess to be, and will do for othcis what they
have done for such as mav- have u*ed them ; as
Jiis is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
1 doubtless be valuable information to families to
: know that the Yellow are just doubly- as valuable
1 as the Bed Tomato, and produces twice as much
of Hie hapatine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will -be found 10 keep tiie
: system in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
■ anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
c how they then wished for a substitute, it has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
a-ccrtainer that .aey coniameu alterative and diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject tiie medicine, as they
1 justly- do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in
his city. Wc all know something aoout mis.

ANTi-BALSAMIC GONORRHOEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
fjpHIS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
A long known, and used with such unparralfcled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeats, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success Inch has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”—the
same su .ess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief VVabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.—
Wabcnoshc prized highly and use it w ith invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already- enriched to an almost
incredible extentthe children of this warlike prince,
not only- by- actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of His receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may- say-, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers
Below is a copy-of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by- Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory- process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

HEADACHE, SICK OR NERVOUS.
The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’s
remedy for this distressing compaint is every day
gaining is certainly a matter of much astonishment,
That so much suffering should have existed for ages
without any discovery of an effectual preventive, or
cure, is truly a subject of much regret but Dr. S.
now assures the public that such a remedy has been
invented as will convince the most credulous. The
principles on w hich it acts are simple and plain. It is
an a milted fact that ibis complaint, whether called
Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim
arily from the stomach —those who think they have
the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this
organ, the stomach, is the first cause, that th a sys

stomach, and that only through the same channel

MOFFAT’S VEGETABLE LIFE MEDICINES
raHIESE medicines are indebted for their name
to lh< ir manifest and sensible action in puri
lying the spring and channels at life, and enduing
them with renewed tone and vigor. In many hun
dred certified cases which has been made public,
and in almost every species ot disease to which
the human frame is liable, the happy effects of
MOFFAT’S LIFE PILLS AND FHENIX BIT
TERS have been gratefully and publicly ac-
Inowledged by the persons benefiitted, and who
were previously unacquainted with the beau'ifully
philosophical principles upon which they are
compounded, and upon which they ejirsequently
act.
The LI I E MEDICINES recommend themselves
in diseases ol every form and description. Their
first operation is to loosen from the coals ot the
stomach and bowels, the various imparities and
crudities eon- tamiy settling around them ; and to
remove the hardened faeces which collect
convolustons of the smallest intestines. Other
in dicines only partially cleanse these, and leave
such collected masses behind as to produce habitu
al ccstiveness with »J1 its train of evils, or tit a sud
den diarrhoea, with its eminent dangers. This lact
is well known to all regular anatomists, who ex
amine the human bow-els after death ; and hence
the prejudice of those well informed men against
quack medicines—or medicines prepared and her-
Jaded to the public bv ignorant pt rsons. 'J he se
cond effect of the Life Medicines is to cleanse tho
kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the
liver and the lungs, the healthful action of which
entirely depends upon the regularity of the urinary
organs. The blood, which takes its red color Irom
the agency of the liver and the lungs before it
passes into the hea t, being thus purified by them
and nourished by food coming from a clean stom
ach, courses freely through the veins, renews every
part of the system, and triumphantly mounts tiie
banner ot health in the blooming cheek.
Moffat s Vegetable Lite Medicines have been
thoroughly attested, and pronounced a sovereign
remedy for Dyspepsia, Flatulency, Palpitation oi
the Heart, Lossoi Appetite, lleart-buraand Head
ache, Restlessness,- 111-temper, Anxiety, Languor
and Melancholy, Costiveness, Diarrhoea, Cholera,
Fevers of all kinds, Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsies
of all kind, Gravel, Worms, Asthma and Consump

Eruptions and Bad Complexions, Eruptive com

which afflict the hunta - frame. In fever and
ague, particularly, tho Life Medicines have been
mostemmently successful; so much so that in the
Fever and Ague districts, Physicians almost uni
versally prescribe them.
All that Mr. Moffat requires of his patient is
to be particular in taking the Life Medicines strictly
according to the directions. It is not by a news
paper notice, or any ihirg that he himself may say
i.i their favor, that ho hopes to gain credit. It is
alone by the resuh of a fair trial.

cient caution for the purchaser lo ask forthe Lucina
Cordial, but as further assurance, it would he as
well to note tuat its nam , Lucina Cordial, or Elixir
of Lcve, is stamped in the glass of each bottle—the
combined arms of France and the United States
are on the outward envelope—that a Fleur de Lis
is printed on the accompanying directions, and
beautifully embossed on the show-bills hanging in
the stores ol those who have the genuine article
for sale.
The celebrity of the Lucina Cordial being such
as it is, it is scarcely necessary to add that it is the
only efficient remedy for barrenness, and the resto
ration of decayed virile powers ever known ; and
that, in the cure of Fluor Albus, Gleet, obstructed,
difficult or painful Menstruation, the incontinence
of the urine, or the involuntary discharge thereof,
its superiority over every other medicine is not on
ly decided, but unquestionable. For sale by

1 PROSPECTUS OF THE
CHRONICLE & SENTINEL.
, The Chronicle and Sentinel is devoted to
’ Commerce, Politics,and General Intelligence.
. Its location in the principal mart of the State, ;
. gives it decided advantages over the papers of any
, other part of the State, in presenting the earliest
. an d most .mpoitant commercial news. Reports of
the most important markets in the Union are copied
with great care, and a review of the Augusta mar
ket and the value of money, is made up with the
strictest accuracy for the tri-weekly and weekly
papers, which affords the Merchant, Planter and
ah classes of society, the earliest and most impor
tant commercial intelligence.
In Politics, it is the advocate of a sound curren
cy, based upon specie—the re-charter of a National
Hank—the principle? of State Rights—economy
reform and retrenchment in the Federal adminis
tration :—and opposes the leading measures of the
present administration of the Genen 1 Government.
In miscellany and general intelligence, great
care is taken to render the paper both valuable and
interesting to all classes of society-,
i he proprietors will, as soon as their circulation
is sufficiently enlarged, (which they hope will be
in the course of t c present year,) increase the size
of their weekly sheet, when they will present their
patrons with the largest and most valuable paper
in the State.
