And Lunch To Students
Taylor County Schools
To Offer Free Breakfast
The Reynolds City Council
met Monday, July 19th, for the
regular monthly meeting.
Lt. Vernon Humphrey pro
vided the Chief's report, while
Police Chief Lonnie Holder was
at Chief's Training. Lt.
Humphrey advised that the
police department had 1,224
citizen contacts in June, and
129 citations were issued. In
traffic enforcement, there were
82 speeding citations, nine pos
session of marijuana charges,
two DU Is, one failure to main
tain lane, and five child re
straint citations.
Previously, the City installed
a ramp in front of the
Montessori school, to aid in ac
cessing the building when the
curb flooded during heavy
rains. The ramp dams the wa
ter, causing further problems,
and the school asked for a
bridge, or something for the
water to flow under.
Councilman Chris Mason
stated, “If we build it, we own
it and assume all liability.”
Mayor Butch Turner said re
moving the ramp would be bet
ter than the way it is currently.
Public Works Director Scott
Jones noted that removal
would not be easy.
The City will look into the cost
of enlarging the drain pipes
underneath the ramp, to open
it up for water flow.
The fire department’s ISO (In
surance Services Office) audit
is complete. The rating is ex
pected to be announced by the
end of the year.
Assistant City Clerk Tammy
Jones reported that the City’s
tax sale will be in September,
