urb of this city, was waylaid aad
killed Saturday night by Edward Mar

Green waa a married man, 45 years
of age. and robbery was the fhotlve for
which he waa slain.
The shooting occurred about 11
o'clock, but the bodies ’of th# men

was partially bunted.
The feet of the men were less than a
foot apart, showing that they faced
each other when they were killed. At

Near Marshall's rfght hand was a 41-
caliber six-shooter,, with five empty
chambers, while a tt-catlber ptatol,
which had not been fired, waa at his
left hand. Under his body was a well-
made leather sllng-shot, having two
pounds of small shot In the end. Near
his head lay two burglar's mtaks, one
having two bullet holes In It.

reports from ths scent of the killing
are conflicting. One report la that the
deed was an accident due to the fact
that the gun was thought to be un

was Intentionally committed, and that

gees, aged 45 years, an employee of
the Trlon Manufacturing Company, Of
this city, waa Instantly killed Baturday
night by falling the distance of about
10# feet from the "Cllffa," Just below
the dom across ths Chattooga river.
Mr. Burgees was railed la Morgan
county, Alabama, and bad only been a
cttlsen of this place about three weeks.
He leaves a wife and several children.
