LEARD ALMOS1 CAPTURED
B\ SEEKERS FOR “RAFFLES"
Wherf H. S. Leant, district pnaaon-
ger agent of the Seaboard Air Line,
now stationed In Atlanta, went
Nashville on Saturday he didn’t think
his visit would create tho stir that It
did.
A large crowd spotted him ns soon
j he got off the train, and the crowd
followed him about to hi* hotel. Mem
ber* of the crowd whispered to one
another and pointed him, out.
Mr. Leard hadn't done anything that
he could think of that would cull for
such a reception, and he was puzzled.
He wondered why hln arrival In Nash
ville should call for such a demonstra
tion. But he soon found out.
Suddenly one of the crowd who
seemed more positive than the rest
nnd with more nerve, seised him by
the coat sleeve, and shoving a newspa
per under hla face, declared:
•You are the myntorloue Mr. Raf
fles."
"That’s where you’re wrong," replied
Mr. Leard, “for I am only u railroad
man.”
A newspaper waa working the “Mr.
Ha fibs" plan for boosting the circula
tion, nnd the mysterious person was
scheduled to arrive when Mr. Leard
did nnd he was described to fit Mr.
Leard. The crowd “piped him" when
he left the train, and each member had
visions of the prize offered.
