Palermo, Dec. 20.—A Are which fol
lowed the explosion in the Aiello arms
factory Is still rasing. Four hotels
and several houses have been de
stroyed.
Searchers this morning found thirty
bodies, and It Is feared that many more
lost their lives when the military pow
der magazines exploded. The panic In
Palermo has not subsfded. Great ex
citement. which developed at the time
the whole city of Palermo was rocked
and. shaken by the terrific explosion,
still prevails, and It Is difficult to secure
volunteer fire fighters because of a fear
that there may be more explosions.
Troops are now assisting the firemen.
Among the buildings that suffered Is
the historical Mosarln Palace, where It
Is said that the great Cardinal Jules
Mnzarln. was born.

TIEDEMAN RECALLS ORDER
CANCELING LICENSE.
Savannah. Ga.. Dec. 20.—Mayor
Tlqdeman. In answer to the petition
of the DeSoto Hotel for a revocation
of hla order canceling the license ot the
h6tel company, ae a result of their con
viction In police court, stated that. In
view of the fact that the owner, of the
hotel claim the whisky was cold by the
bartender without their knowledge and
not under the DeSoto license, he will
recall his order of cancellation, pro
vided the president of the hotel com
pany and Its manag-r affix their names
to warrants charging 1 the bartender
with conducting a blind tiger.
Now the bartender. It le understood,
hae left these Immediate parts, and Is
reported to bo In Atlanta.

cern, has purchased chert beds near
Summerville, Oa„ and will begin to fur
nish material for roadbeds and struc

Charlotte, N. C„ Dec. 20.—Postmas
ter JT-H. Huntley, of Ansnnvllle, N.
C„ yesterday placed a revolver In his
mouth and killed himself, just after a
postofllce Inspector had walked Into the
store where Huntley conducted busi
ness and began to ask him questions.
What passed between the two men Is
not known. Huntley had been suffer
ing from melancholia for some months,
and his friends had been apprehensive
lest he should attempt some rash deed,
it Is said.. Financial troubles are given
as the cause of Huntley’s state of mind.
A postofllce Inspector left here yes
terday for Ansohvllle, but It li re
ported that he went to Investigate a
rumor regarding a carrier In Anson
county. ....
