THIS valuable preparation combines all the
medicinal virtues of those articles, which long
experience has proved to possess the most safe
and efficient alterative and deobstruent properties, '
or the cure of Scrofula, King's Ecil, 11 hite Swell
ings, l> leers, Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent i
Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections, Rheu
matism, Gout, Scurvcy, Neuralgia or Tic-Dov-lou
reux, Cancer, Goitre or BroncKocele, (swelled Neck,)
Enlargements of the Bones, Joints, Glands, or Liga
ments or of the Ovaries, Inver, Spleen, Kidneys, \c.
All the diseases of the Skin, such as Tetter, Ring
worm, Biles, Pimples, Carbuncles, fyc., Dyspqtsut
r * I Liver Complaint, Nen'ous Diseases, Dropsical
Swellings, Ccftistitutioual Disorders and diseases c: i
ginating from a depraved or Impute state cl the
Blood or other fluids o 1 the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has ne t offered
this preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid study, nor until alter |
twelve years’ experience had manifested its great
Superiority over every other article of the kind,
4 nd he now recommends it with confidence. tally j
believing that the above combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of diseases some of which have heretolore been con-
incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety ol
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating Irom |
obstruction or enlargement cf the glands or iovpuri- j
tv of the blood.
Cancer an 3 Cancerous Tumors.
lie has used this preparation in upwards of two n
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and iu every case but one with perfectitnd
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it has neicr failed in a single instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary |
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing broncho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and ;
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and j
Ague, but with as much certainty: and further, that j
he has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed. !
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emauat e ,
Scrofula —King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous
of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings, and always with the most decided success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane- |
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt j
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and jaundiced skin, &e.
Dysoapsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-D ouloui eux.
It has been in several cases of Neuralgia,
and In every case it was successful
Rheumatism,
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every
base in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have been cured by
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, ami
for five months immediately previous to Jiis taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room;
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was
Enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his affliction.
Droosical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by |
Which watery or calcareous depositions, and ail un- j
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts |
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing j
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering i
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- j
Eose, the general health of the patient has always I
een improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
cf the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can- ;
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by
this medicine, that, have ever been recorded-, but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this timfe.
Cancer.
An interesting case cured by Jayne’s Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter 1
Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, i
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The '
whole and entire right breast was removed, and as- ;
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by j
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac !
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi- j
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in- I
deed it had been for several years before. In the
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
oreast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi- i
ly increased for several months, and became so j
painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now \
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear- j
td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
burnption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it,
which was about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, w'hich had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. He would also say that
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had
a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe,
as large as the half of an orange, which was cured
by using this Alterative for about four months.
Miss R■_■ -.S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing when she was but five
years old. and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
mouths, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as cgn
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

TO THE BEAUTIFIBR3 OF THE
COMPLEXION.
Surprising Efficacy.
MY EAU DIVINE DE VENUS and NYMPH
SOAP, composed of an Eastern Botanical dis
covery of surprising efficacy, for rendering the j
Skin soft and lair, as well as imparting a delicate !
roseate hue to the complexion.
As a creator and conservator of that most distin- •
guishing charm of female loveliness, a transparent
fair skin, Jules Hauel’s Nymph Soap of Eau Divine
De Venus may be said to exert an almost magical
Giwer. Composed for the most part of Oriental
alsamic Plants, to the utter exclusion of all mine- j
ral admixture, it is distinguished medicinally for its
extremely bland, purifying and soothing action on j
the skin; and by acting on the pores and minute se- j
cretory vessels, expels all impurities from the sur- j
face, allays every tendency to imffammation, and 1
j by this method alone, effectually dissipates all red- ,
j ness, tan, prinples, freckles, sunburn and other un- |
1 sightful cutaneous visitations, so inimical to female
lovliness. Its use will change the most bilious com
plexion into one of radiant whiteness; while on the
neck, hands and arms it bestows a delicacy and
fairness which its continued use will happily pro- |
tect, and every appearance of y r outhlul charm, to
the most advanced period of life. For sale, whole- ;

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE.
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
I DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT. !
375 Bowery, N. Y.
MUST those he w ho have Pulmonary Consump- j
tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or
Chest, after reading the following letter, just re- ;
J ceived from a most respectable inhabitant ol West- j
; Chester County New York.
Tarrytowk, Aug. 9, 1844. I
Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for
I the interest you have taken to relieve me in my
! distress. In the y ear 1842 I contracted a heavy
1 cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
\ months after, I commenced coughing and raising
j offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having
! heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
: coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had
not the least effect on me. I then called in the
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three
j bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
I but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect
| from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
| jury to me. Shortly after using it, 1 commenced
; raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down
sick and confined to the house for three months,
during which time I lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis ,
of New Y r ork. (one of the best physicians in the |
1 city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became ;
i worse, and was confined to the house all last winter
! and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting
1 any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
was Very severe, together with a pain in my
breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought :
every day was the last. About this time 1 heard |
of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good
for consumption, but I was like many others, and j
was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; 1
however finally consented to try it, as I thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur. i
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and
commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used
j one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the j
! morning I had an appetite lor my breaktust. I still ;
I keep on taking it and find great benefit from it —the
! pain in my breast is entirely gone, and 1 raise no
more blood. Within the last two months 1 have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
1 would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me, and I will convince him of its !
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.

GALVANIC RINGS AND
Magnetic Fluid.
rai HIS remarkable invention, which has received
.1. the almost universal approbation of the Medi
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial
agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied Avithout any of the
objections which are inseparable from the general
mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg
ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im
partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy this radical defect, that this new applica
tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and
perseverance has been brought to its present state
of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the
purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in
many other respects are more safe and certain in
accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in
all disorders which arise from u?i enfeebled or un
healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those
complaints are among the most painful and univer
sal to which we arc subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause —a derangement of
the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that
j other “remedies 7 ’ having so often failed, a new
; agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
j cious application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire
| success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout. Tic-
Duloreujc, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous
or Side Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy,
Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart , Ap
pojAexy, St iffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum
bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil-
I itu. Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and
; all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys-
I pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the
j system must he witnessed to be believed, and as a
| certain Preventive, for the preceding complaints
they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the
i most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea
ble than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, &c.
In some cases of a very severe character and of
long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic
Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv
ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets,
fyc., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
of power that is required can readily be obtained,
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re
-1 lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms,
j wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body
perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
similar complaints,
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Ri?igs,
and all their modifications,. This composition has
been pronounced by the French Chemists to be
one of the most extraordinary discoveries of rnod
! ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable
power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
action, by these means causing a circulation of the
influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra
pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
chemistry is known to produce the same effect or
to impart a similar property to the nervous system
' by means of an outward local application. The
Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the
slights st injury, its application is agreeable, and it |
is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its
result. The combined inventions are in every way
perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach
of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial,
as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent
benefit.
Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
These articles form another valuable application
and the mysterious influence of Galvanism, i hey
are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic
Rings and their modifications, acting upon the
same principle, but having this advantage of more
local application. They are confidently reci m
raended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure
of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in ail nervous
complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of
Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in
the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness
or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi
nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided
character, and they have often been used with
complete success. They arc also of the greatest
advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast,
and are highly recommended for many of those
complaints to which females are especially liable.
As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys
tem when debilitated by disease or other causes;
as a certain aid in Constitutional W eakness, as a
Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the
Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage.
In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the
best tonic preparation with the important addition
of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
-1 ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
articles will be found entirely free from those ob
jections which are a constant source of complaint
with the ordinary Piasters in common use.
[Lj 3 The great celebrity and success of these ar
ticles have caused them to be counterfeited by un
principled persons. To provide against impositions,
: Dr. Christie has but one authorized agent in each
; city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta,

DrTjOEL BRANHAM’S LIVER AND
DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people |
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- I
eases incident to a Southern climate, Ido not claim :
tor it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all j
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and !
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
mend its use. from my personal observation and use
of the article in my own practice. This article is
favorably received wherever it has been used. I
am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup, :
Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. |
Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of I.a- i
grange; to which a great number of names might |
be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— \
Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others,
gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the "safest
and most valuable medicines that can be used in
imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in
billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil- |
lious fevers, and in sick of nervous head-ache. To
pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, i
this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state
of the stomaCh and bowels, and promoting digestion, |
it is particularly useful.
I could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi- i
cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and
certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS*
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal ,
Agents has ever been that in their process of pur
gation and purification, they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary i
Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of |
one disease at the expense of another. To obviate
this, phvsicians have long sought for an Agent that j
would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. !
But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they j
had almost despaired of success when the labors of
science and research, were rewarded by a discov- |
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named
Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills.
Which Purify the Blood, and remove all corrupt
and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from
the body in a manner never before rivalled, and
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what- I
ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and j
invigorate the constitution during the progress of |
their operation. Dr. Le Roy's Pills, in fact, unite ;
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable ■
qualities, Evacuation and hivirorafion, for they are
at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
Ihe tw r o paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy's
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef
fect of tiie other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Ke-:fction or Subsequent Costiveness.
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, :
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts.
per box.
