will be found equally as attentive to the calls ot his
customers, and all who may bqdisposed to extend
their patronage to the now establishment, as for
inerly, and on as good terms, and the assortment of

choice as heretofore kept by him in the same store.
The subscriber would also inform tho public that
ho is not an agent for Joseph Shannon, nor has he
had an agency in any business, since the subscriber

four years with severe pains in ill! Ids joints, which
were always increased on the slightest motion, the j
tongue preserved a steady whiteness; loss of appe
tite, dizziness in Ins head, the bowels commonly
very costive, the urin high colored, and often pro
fuse sweating, unattended hy relief. The above
symptoms werealsa attended with considerable dif
ficulty of breathing, with a sense of tightness across
the chest, likewise a great want of dne energy in the
nervous system.

Ait extraordinary ami remarkable cure.
Airs Alarv Dillon,of Wiiliamsbnrgh, was restored
to health by the use of this medicine.—The symp
toms of this ilestrcssing case wore as follows; Total
loss of appetite, palpitation of the heart, twitching
of the tendons,with agoneral spasmodic affection of
the muscles, difficulty of breathing, giddiness,
languor, lassitude, great depression of spirits, with
the fear of some impending evil, a sensation of
fluttering at the pit of the stomach, irregular tran
sient pains in different parts, great emancipation
with other symptoms of extreme debility.
The above case was pronounced hopeless hy
three of the most eminent physicians, and a disso
lution of the patient daily awaited (or hy her friends,
which may he authenticated by the physicians
who were in attendance. A'he has given her cheer
ful permission to publish the above facts, and will
also gladly give any information respecting the
benefit she has received to any enquiring mind.

culty in breathing, distressing cough, generally
ending with copious expectoration of viscid phlegm,
disturbed est, the face turgid and of a livid hue;
could not I e in a horizontal position without the
sensation )f immediate suffocation, languor, drew
siness, and dissint-ss in the head, and loss ofap"
pet to.
.Mr S. applied to the most eminent physician in
the city, likewise used several oilier remedies
without obtaining any permanent benefit un
til his friends persuaded him ~o place himself
mid rDr c. vans’ treatment, ile is now relieved
of his complaint, and called at tho office yesterday, |
avowing that be had not words in express Ins grsti-1
nde for the benefit ho had received.

a compound Syrup of Pink Root, which will
admit of as ilefinj.e prescription ns the powdered
mot. ihe dose of Pink Root, known as one of
the best vermifuges is. 10 to 20 grains, and double
that quantity in infusion is necessary to tho same
( Ib-cl Rot tins syrup contains i concentrated
(mn, much stronger than the infusion, amounting
t. almost iho whole virtues of tho substance.
One tcaspoonfnl of this syrup contains the con- .
fcntrated docwclion of 20 grains within a small .
fraction, which may h« considered at least, equal \
to the minimi dose of the substance, which is 10
ginins—two Icaspoonfals 20 grains, and so on. A
slight laxative poweris given by combining in tho
virtues of rhubarb and senna.
It is not certain that, nby uniform antidote to the
occasional nervineclfocls of Pink Root is know n, 1
but the best antidotal power hitherto' ascertained, I
aristolochia, serponlariaH combined indue propor
tion.
It should bo remembered that no vermifuge is 1
uniformly successful, even when worms arc known
io ho present. The officianal infusion is 100 weak;
containing only tho ton ofseven and a half to fit
teen grains to the Ouse, which equals, (if the aolec 1
lion ol the root ho well made) only three and a 1
quarter to seven and a half grains of the substance. 1
For tins syrup, tho best specimens have been ■
