We bail this morning a white frost. We are

Wo published on Friday last, the report of the
capture of the Philadelphia packet ship Susque
hanna, by pirates, since which time slips by the
northern express mail have teemed with reports
upon the subject, but yet furnishing no positive
evidence of the fact or any positive contradiction
of it. There seems to ho evidence enough that
such a vessel as the one supposed to be the pirate,
has been olf the espes of Delaware—hut whether
she be really a pirate or not, is the question! The
following information from the Philadelphia Com
mercial Herald slip, is the latest we have from
the North!
THE PIRATE —Capl. Hamilton, ofthe ship
Florida, Iro n Valparaiso, si New York on Wed
nesday reports that on Monday night at 10 o’clock
within eight miles of liareuget light, saw a long
low black schooner running off and on with a
light wind from 8, S. E.—passed under her
stern, and about 12 o'clock hauled his wind and
steered for land. The Florida looks like a ship
of war, and the pirate may have been afraid to
k raid her.
