With sorrow we chronicle the death of
little Willie D. Coney infant sou of Hon.
Joel T. Coney one of our most honored
citizens. He was an unusually bright and
interesting child. Though only two years
and three months old he was as well ad
vanced as most children at five. He was
the idol of his fond mother’s heart, the
center of all the earthly hopes of his doting
father and the pride of the entire commu
nity. We tender them our sympathy *n
their groat loss, lmt. comfort them with the.
assurance that “dear little Willie” is in
safer hands to keep hint, and under surer
prelection, and more honored nnd linppy
than if their fondest hopes for him on

disappointments of life are escaped, and he
is freed from the cruel task of life’s respon

of their offspring depart to be an

tiie father was grieving for the loss
oi Albert, while the mother refused
to lie comforted because Albert wa
not. Both were positive as to which
child had died, and long and fierce
grew the debate. But as all disputes
must come to an end sooner or later,
this matter was finally settled. It is
needless to say that the woman had
her way and

This member has only introduced
one WU the past session which he
snhsuqivently withdrew. H was a
local bill, and its introduction was
the result of the lawyers saying it
was not a local bill, but the Speaker
differed. This member doos not be
lieve in too much legislation. He is
a very practical legislator, and is
always in his seat. He is a member
of two committees, to-wit: Wild
Lands and Agricultural committees.
All of lus legislative conduct goes to
prove that he is in favor of retrench

lie is quiet in his deportment, and is

Please allow me space to make a
few suggestions to the planters of
Johnson county. As the manufact
urers of guaiio’iiuve resolved nob to
sell guano at the prices hitherto
charged for it, 1 respectfully sug
gest that tho planters meet eii masse
at the court house in Wrightsvillc
oil Tuesday the 31st inst. for the
purpose of coming to soino under
standing in regard to tho matter and
passing appropriate resolutions in
regard to what the urioo shall here
after bo. It is well known that the
guano debt is always the first debt
paid and at the expense ‘ of other
creditors. Therefore it js nothing
hut right that tho prices of guano
should be reduced instead of advan
ced, hence I make this call. The
planters of bur county liavo been im
posed upon long enough and I re
spectfully suggest that we meet and

it. Respectfully,
