Commercial.—The cotton market was
quite nctivo yesterday. Buyers wore
numerous, and prices higher tlmn on tiny

alio higher-it brought yesterday 148.
The stooks of merchandize uto notgone-
rslly heavy, but the assortments of our
merchants nro very good. Almost any
• article needed can loo found. If the
river wero navigable to this point, many
eioros that are now nearly empty would
he filled, largo quantities of goods for
this market being now at Eufaula uwait-
iug navigation.
We called to see Col. Ifogan, our
model Postmaster, yesterday, and while
ip his office he showed us a largo frac
tion of tho postofiico effects of tho lute
Confederacy. Ho 1ms had a largo num
ber of sacks of C. S. mail matter hero
for some time, and upon application for
instructions ns to what disposition to
mato of it, lie 1ms been directed to for
ward it all to Washington City. The

ces boon seised by tho Military Authorities in
this Department, it is theroforo ordered:

pistols, Ao., (other thnn Colt's Navy revolvers,)
will in no cases be taken from peaceable per-ons
making no improper ueo theroot.
II. Tho sido arm* of paroled offices of the
lato so-called Confoderato Army, will not ha
takon from their owners eo long uh their paroles
aro observed.
III. All other Confoderato or United Stateg
arms of any description, such aa Muskota, Car
bines, Bwurda, Colt's Navy revolvers, £«., will

therefor, and all perrons having aniconcealing
