It’s that type of attitude Blackman says DeKalb County should adopt in regards to code enforcement. Blackman, along with others attending the annual DeKalb Neighborhood Summit July 9, expressed concerns over code enforcement throughout DeKalb County. Scott Belzer sbelzer@dekalbchamp.com A series of communications between DeKalb County School District’s legal counsel and representatives from Integral Group LLC were recently made public, outlining disagreements on the proposed Doraville tax allocation district (TAD). In an email dated May 17, Nina Gupta, an attorney from Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP representing DCSD, requested written information from Integral, the company developing the former General Motors plant in Doraville, now known as Assembly. The requested information included analyses on development of the site without the TAD, cost calculations, alternative financing options, potential progress tracking, public and private investments, construction timelines, enrollment projections and environmental studies involving the former General Motors site. “The district realizes that the [request] represents a significant amount of information; however, we believe it is a reasonable amount to request, in light of the significant contribution that [Integral] is asking the district to make,” Gupta wrote. “This information is necessary so the district may continue to fully vet this proposal and move forward.” The email also states representatives from Integral “have met privately with various members of the DeKalb County Board of Education and the DeKalb County School District” regarding TAD participation, but provides no specific names. No formal presentation has been made to the DeKalb County School District though it has been suggested by the city of Doraville and Integral Group LLC, the development firm behind the project. 64116 1 Q'CHAMPIONNEWSPAPER championnews ^championnewspaper
