Trevon Richardson was buried
June 5, but the family of the slain
Cedar Grove High School graduate
is still in need of funds to cover
expenses.
Richardson, 18, was fatally
shot on Memorial Day at a south
DeKalb County apartment complex.
Detavion McDay, 18, was arrested
May 31 and charged with murder in
connection to the shooting.
Richardsons mother Nicole
created a Go Fund Me account to
help cover funeral expenses and is
seeking $10,000. As of June 7, $4,000
had been raised.
“Many people have continued
to contact these news media outlets
wondering what can they do to help
the Richardson family in their time
of sorrow,” she said. “We ask that
you please donate whatever your
heart allows and know that all of
your contributions will be greatly
appreciated. All funds will be used to
cover any and all expenses related to
this sudden and unexpected tragedy”
Richardson, a football and
track and field athlete, graduated
from Cedar Grove four days before
the shooting and was heading to
Valdosta State University on a
football scholarship.
Football and track coach
Jermaine Smith said Richardson
was a good student who loved to
make his teammates laugh.
“He always had a joke, always had
a smile on his face and always tried
to make everyone else smile,” Smith
said.
