On July 26, Aetna Foundation officials announced a donation of $15,000 ofNarcan kits to DeKalb County at the second annual Opioid Summit, hosted by DeKalb Commissioner Larry Johnson. Alex Balia came to Goodwill for assistance 11 years ago after moving to the United States from Romania. He now works for Goodwill as a job coach. BY CARLA PARKER carla@dekalbchamp.com Eleven years ago, Alex Balia and his family moved to the United States from Romania after winning a visa lottery. Balia could not read or write in English and did not know how to get around. He went to Goodwill for help in adjusting to his new home. He now works for Goodwill and helps those who seek assistance just as he did 11 years ago.
