Voters request paper ballot ahead of November election
BY HORACE HOLLOMAN

During a DeKalb County Board of
Elections meeting, some DeKalb voters
said they are not confident about the
county’s “vulnerable” voting system.
Several residents said Georgia is
a target for “hackers” and the voting
system is old, outdated and has serious
problems.
“The negative effect of all this on
DeKalb voters cannot be stressed
enough,” said DeKalb County voter
Caroline Stover. “Voters are afraid,
frustrated and confused about voting
to the degree that the most dangerous
and unacceptable result might actually
occur in November—people will refrain
from voting. Voters will stay away from
the polls and I know that is something
this board would want to work to avoid
at all costs.”
Stover, along with several other
residents, requested the board consider
providing paper ballots. Stover said
paper ballots could be verified and
audited in case of a potential breach or
hack.
“Please restore the confidence of
DeKalb County voters in time for our
important November elections. This
board is fully able to prove to its voters
that fraud, tampering, errors or other
threats to their votes no longer exists,”
Stover said.
DeKalb County resident and
founder of tech company Big Nerd
Ranch Aaron Hillegass said a voter
hack in Georgia during November
elections is possible.
“This is a very divisive time and
