Latino/Hispanic heritage
celebration planned in DeKalb

City officials from
Brookhaven, Decatur and
Dunwoody announced
plans for celebrations
of Latino and Hispanic
cultural heritage, while
Latin American Association
(LAA) will host the Latin
Fever Ball, which will
also celebrate LAA's 50th
anniversary.
The celebrations
were planned in honor of
Hispanic Heritage Month,
which runs from Sept. 15
through Oct. 15.
Events in DeKalb will
include performances such
as capoeira, dancing, and
singing; food; face painting;
education; and other Latino
and Hispanic events. The
celebrations planned for
Decatur and Dunwoody are
also free.
City of Dunwoody
Economic Development
Department will host
a celebration of Latino
Hispanic cultural heritage
Sept. 18 from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
at North DeKalb Cultural
Arts Center, located at 5339
Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
Decatur Arts Alliance is
hosting the second annual
Placita Latina exhibition in
the Decatur Arts Alliance
gallery Sept. 18 through
Oct. 14. The gallery is free
and open to the public daily
between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Board of health to host drive-thru
vaccination event as flu season approaches

and football season
right around the corner,
DeKalb health officials
say they want to make
sure another season is
top of mind for everyone
- flu season.
The DeKalb County
Board of Health is
hosting a drive-thru flu
vaccination event on
Sept. 17, from 8 a.m.
until noon at Dunwoody
High School, 5035
Vermack Road, Dunwoody.
The event focuses on adults 18 and older and seniors
65 and older who may need a high-dose vaccine for added
protection, individuals who are immunocompromised or
have chronic health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes,
