On Aug. 14, the Fulton County District Attorney's office released "a nearly 100- page indictment (that) details dozens of acts by Trump or his allies to undo his defeat, including beseeching Georgia's Republican secretary of state to find enough votes for him to win the battleground state; harassing an election worker who faced false claims of fraud; and attempting to persuade Georgia lawmakers to ignore the will of voters and appoint a new slate of electoral college electors favorable to Trump," according to Associated Press. On Aug. 15, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, who represents parts of Atlanta, Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Forest Park, Lake City, Morrow and South Fulton, held a press call with other officials to "break down the significance and impact of these new charges and explain why bringing them to trial promptly is critical for bolstering American democracy." "We are here on a dark day for our democracy," said Williams. "A grand jury in Fulton County, my home, indicted Donald Trump because he attempted to overturn the free and fair election in Georgia.
