Arabia Mountain
wins region, DeKalb
gets double-digit
playoff teams
BY JAY PHILLIPS

Arabia Mountain High School's football team won the region
4-5A title in a 24-23 battle with Tucker High School on Nov. 3 at
Adams Stadium.
The win guaranteed Arabia Mountain a home playoff game,
as one of the 11 playoff games set for DeKalb teams on Nov. 10
- 11. Tucker, Cedar Grove, Dunwoody, Chamblee, Stephenson,
Columbia, Redan, St. Pius X Catholic, Marist, and Decatur will
join Arabia Mountain as playoff teams from DeKalb.
Decatur, Dunwoody, Chamblee, St. Pius X Catholic, and
Redan will begin the playoffs with a road game while the
remaining teams will start at home.
DeKalb having 11 representatives in the playoffs surpasses
the nine-team mark set in both 2021 and 2022 - a step toward
accomplishing the goal that coaches set before the season at
DeKalb County School District Media Day.
"I'm hoping that everyone in this room can take DeKalb
County a little further in the playoffs ... past the first or second
round," said Decatur head coach William Felton at media day.
"Let's have a good representation and let people know we play
real football in DeKalb."
The full opening round schedule for all DeKalb playoff teams
is listed at the end of this article.
