possible. The vote for the resolution
was hearty and unanimous as all felt
that our Eaymen s Movement had made
good and that the convention at Birmingham
would be a tremendous factor in
bringing every church that feels its influence
up to a sense of its world-wide
obligation. Now that the time for the
convention draws near and we hear of
the magnificent programme that the
Executive Committee is promising, the
word is, "On to Birmingham!" At least
that was the word in Knoxville last Sabbath
as Mr. H. C. Ostrom, General Secretary
of the Movement, presented the
matter of the convention to our three
cnurcnes nere. me first and central
churches respondea at once, electing
their full number of delegates and arranged
to pay their expenses, and the
Third church is to act upon the matter
at its next session meeting. Thus it is
confidently expected that Knoxville will
send at least twenty men. Let every
one of our churches attend to this matter
and thus m?.ke full use of this splendid
opportunity our Laymen's Movement is
opening before us.

welcomed ten new members. One adult
was baptized and six children. On the
first sabbath of the New Year a special
service was held for the "Children of
the Covenant,# as has been our custom
for many years. Six little ones received
handsome Bibles as gifts from the
church. Thus the church, their fostermother,
seeks to do for them what Jesus
did for the little ones when He took
them in His arms and blessed them.

generous from members and friends to
the pastor and family. Our first communion
was attended largely. In this
year, we have adopted the envelope system
and the deacons are busy getting it
started. The music committee closed the
contract with Henry Pllcher's Sons of
Louisville, for a $2,000 pipe organ to be
in place by April 1. Our auditorium is
crowded by the usual congregation, as
well as by the Sabbath school, so that
a movement for the enlargement of the
I church and the erection of a modern
I Sabbath school room is on foot. God
is honoring the efTorts of His faithful
people, and unto Him be the praise.
I Fort Worth: Dr. Junius B. French,

Anson: Rev. W. K. Johnston has resigned
his work at this place. The plan
for the co-operation of the two churches,
Northern and Southern, on which Mr.
Johnston entered upon this work, held
up for only one year, when the Northern
branch drew out and called a man for
all his time. Mr. Johnson continued in
the field, however, and his work was
greatly blessed, in the ingathering of
members, the development of the different
departments of the church's work,
and in the improvement of the church's
Property. He leaves Anson with the best
wishes of all the people.
Matador: On last Sunday five members

Mexia: Rev. E. E. Bigger, the pastor
of the Mexia church, was given a generous

The manse was well laden when the
members of the congregation left after
an extremely pleasant evening. The
pastor, unfortunately, was ill with the
grippe at the time, and unable to enjoy
the delightful gathering.
Mt. Pleasant: On last Sunday this
congregation had the pleasure of hearing
three excellent addresses on Sunday
School Work by Rev. A. O. Browne, District
Superintendent for the Southwest.
At the afternoon address the other Sunday
