ALABAMA.
At a Called Meeting of Tuscaloosa
Presbytery, at York, Ala., January 19,
Rev. W. D. Spurlin was dismissed to the
Presbytery of Meridian, with a view to
his taking charge of the church at Laurel,
Miss., to which he was recently
called.

Anniston: Rev. Dr. W. E. Mcllwain
hag resigned the presidency of the Synodical
Colleerp for Von nor Mor. T* I- --

that the board of trustees will
not be likely to accept the resignation
without conditions, the chief reason being
that it will be impracticable to secure
a successor before the close of the session,
so that Dr. Mcllwain will be asked
to remain until that time.
East Lake: The little flock at this
place are erecting a neat church home
that will cost about $2,000. This
church has had a checkered career, and
the faithful little band deserve help in
their endeavor to reach out to better
things. The good ladies have worked
hard to raise the money to build, and the
few men in the church have done their
part faithfullv hnf aii ??

This memorial will be presented to the

Synodical Home Missions: The canvass
of the Synod of Arkansas for funds
with which to continue the home mis.
sion work will be done as usual this year,
the committee uaving failed so far in
securing the proper man for Synodical
superintendent. Rev. J. E. Wylie will
canvass the rTesbytery of Washbourne,
Rev. S. L. Hogan, Ouachita and Pine
Bluff, and the presbytery of Arkansas
will be canvassed by one whose name will
be announced later, as the first person selected
has been unable to do so. This
is the great work of the Synod, and it
is hoped that this will be the greatest
year in the history of the Synodical home
mission movement. The canvass will begin
February 1, and all ministers and
churches of the Synod are requested to
have their local appointments made that
they will not conflict with the dates of the
canvassers where it is possible to do so.
Three counties in the state had Presbyterian
churches organized in them last

purchased a commodious manse in which
the pastor. Rev. W. T. Waller, and family,
are now located. Rev. Geo. F. Robertson,
who recently resigned the pastorate of the
Steele Creek Church, North Carolina, to
engage in evangelistic work, has begun
special services, from which we hope for
encouraging results. His brief services
in a tent last year were well attended,
and he made a most favorable impression
upon this community. G.

were present Sunday and three members

North Avenue Church, Atlanta: Rev.
H. C. Hammond, pastor of the Pryor
Street Church, preached at the North
Avenue Church last Sunday morning, and
presented the need of his church for a
new building. This church has had a
splendid growth in the past, and, having
suiu iaeir old Dulidlng which was Inadequate,
has bought a lot and has raised
a part of the sum necessary to build the
new church. After this effective sermon
the North Avenue Church subscribed $800
for this new building.
To the Churches of the Synod of Georgia:
Permit me to remind you of the
action of the Synod at its recent meeting
in regard to the work of the Presbyter- ian
Hospital which is located in Atlanta.
The Synod of Georgia has more than
once endorsed the work of the Hospital,

Milledgeville: Rev. Richard Orme Flinn
is conducting a meeting here this week.
The meeting has been preceded by two
weeks of prayer. The first week the prayer
services were held at the church.
Last week there were neighborhood
