Beard.?Near Spottswcod, Augusta Co.,
Va., January 29, 1909, Mrs. Eliza J. Beard,
daughter of the late Gilbert Dempster,
and widow of Thomas Beard, eighty-two
years of age. She was a member of Mt.
Carmel church for sixty-two years.
Cunningham.?At her home in Prfhce
Edwards Co., Va., on January 8, 1909,
Miss Lelia May Cunningham, aged
twenty-three. She had been a patient sufferer
for several months. A member of
Buffalo church, and was laid to rest in

Gibert.?At the residence of his neice,
Mrs. \v. ci. Irvine, Iceland, Miss., January
3, 1909, Stanley Gibert passed quietly
away after an illness of five weeks. Aged
sixty-one years. He was eldest son of
Rev. Joseph and Mary Gibert, and a member
of the First Presbyterian church,

28, 1909, aged seventy-eight. Col. Robert
Winston Simmons, a native of Augusta,

leans. He was a veteran of the civil war,
going out with the Washington Arti'.lery;
became lieutenant colonel, served in the
riege of Vicksburg. and was on the staff
of General Jcsaph E. Johnston.
Smith.?At the home of her son, Col.
R. L. Smith. Commerce, Ga., January 22,
1909, Mrs. Catherine M. Smith was called
to her reward, aged eighty-two years. She
had been a faithful member of the Presbyterian
church forty-three years.
