PRESBYTERY OF ATLANTA.
Atlanta Presbytery met at Winder, Ga.,
April 13, and was opened with a sermon
by Rev. John B. Gordon. Moderator,
Rev. H. J. Williams; temporary
elerk. Rev. J. A. Simpson. Present, thirty-one
ministers and thirty-five elders.
Rev. Dr. Dunbar H. Ogden was received
from the Presbytery of Kmoxville,
and order was taken for his installation
at the Central Church. Atlanta,
on Sunday, June 6, 1909. The
commission to install is composed of Dr.

Candidate G. M. Hollingsworth was
transferred to Enoree Presbytery.

Stimson at Panthersville, Rev. Mr. Grigg
at Barnesville, Rev. N. B. Mathes at
Philadelphia- and Riverdale, Rev. Lloyd
B. Field at Conyers and Smyrna.

KING'S MOUNTAIN PRESBYTERY.
Presbytery met. April G-8. at Unity
church, Lincoln Co., N. *C. The opening
sermon was preached by the retiring

MACON PRESBYTERY.
The one hundred and fifth session was
held in Cuthbert April 6-9, 1909. Present,
twenty ministers and twenty ruling elders.
Officers: Ruling Elder P. P. Pelham,
of Poulan, moderator, and Rev. J. W.
Stokes, temporary clerk.
Rev. R. G. Newsome was received
from the Presbytery of Nashville and
arrangements made for his installation
as pastor of the Tatnall Square church.
Rev. C. A. Campbell accepted the call
already in his hands, from the Quitman
church, and Sabbath, April 25, was
agreed upon for his installation. Rev.
J. G. Venable to preach and preside,
Rev. E. B. Witherspoon to charge the
pastor. Rev. A. McLauchlin to charge
the people. Rev. S. L. McCarty to act
as alternate to complete the commissioner.
Addresses were made by Mr. C. H.
Pratt, on "Resolutions of the Birmingham
Convention." Rev. S. L. Morris.
D. D., spoke on the Assembly's homo
mission work and also on the Presbyterian
Hospital.
The Calvin Celebration was observed
and addresses were made by Rev. J. W.
Stokes, on "Calvin, the Reformer." and
Rev. I. S. McElrov, D. D., on "Calvin's
Attitude Toward the Scriptures."
The Assembly's Overture touching the
Infant Clause of the Confession of Faith
was answered in the negative, but with
a qualification. That touching Book of
Church Order, Chapter 13, section 4, was
answered in the affirmative.

Reports from the churches showed a
gratifying Increase of accessions to the
various churches, also the contributions
of our people to nearly all the Assembly's
causes.
The Presbytery most heartily endorsed
the Presbyterian Hospital movement in
Atlanta, and elected the following trustees:
T. B. West and R. L. Anderson,
of Macon, and Elder F. V. Girard, together
with Rev. Messrs. R. E. Douglass,
I. S. McElroy, D. D., and J. W. Stokes,
as members of the advisory board. The
hospital was also heartily commended
to the liberality of our people.
On Motion, Young's Female College
was designated as the beneflciarv nt +>w.
Presbytery, of all funds raised for
schools and colleges, and the churches
were urged to give liberally to this
cause. The report of the president of
that institution was full of encouragement.
An Evangelist Presbytery authorized
the Home Mission Committee to secure
and place in the field an evangelist aa
soon as a suitable man could be found
and the members of the Presbytery for
themselves and their churches pledged
about eleven hundred dollars for that
purpose.
The Catechism: Following resolution
touching the study of the Catechisms

was adopted: "Macon Presbytery views
with much concern the neglect of our
people in regard to the training of the
children and youth of our church in the
catechisms and distinctive principles of
Presbvterianism, and urges upon pastors
and sessions the necessity of greater
diligence in this matter, both in the
home and in the Sabbath school."
Next Meeting in the East. Macon
church, Tuesday before the third Sabbath
in October, at 8 p. m.

THE PRESBYTERY OF WILMINGTON.
Presbytery met in the First Church,
Wilmington, at 11 a. m., April 6. The
opening sermon was preached by Rev.
P. L. Clark. *
Officers: Moderator, Rev. J. M. Plowden;
clerks, Elders W. J. Boney and
W. I. Shaw.
The John Calvin Quadricentennial
was observed by listening to fine addresses
by Dr. G. B. Strickler, Dr. T. C.
Johnson, Dr. H. A. White, Dr. W. L. Lingle,
Dr. H. L. Smith, of the Southern
Church, and Dr. W. W. White, of New
York City.
Dr. J. M. Wells and Eledr W. P. Murphy
were elected commissioners to the
General Assembly, with Dr. A. D. McClure
and Elder J. C. Newland as alternates.
The Presbytery voted against any

and sixty cents were pledged to the
John Calvin Auditorium at Montreal.

The Election of the Rev. J. E. L. Wlnecoff
as president of the James Sprunt
Institute was approved by the Presbytery.
Dr. H. S. Smith was heard in behalf of
Davidson College. Rev. M. McG. Shields
spoke of Synodical missions and Dr. W.
L. Lingle of the Assembly's home missions.

was changed to that of the L. C. Graves
Memorial church.
Clinton was chosen as the place for
the next meeting and the time, 2:30
p. m., October 6, next.
Too Much can not be said of the
kindness of the Presbyterians of Wilmington
to the members of Presbytery.
In our judgment there are no better
people anywhere.
