Fall Meeting: Bealeton, Va., August 31, 8 p. m. Home Missions: Rev. Harry Waddell Pratt was elected chairman and treasurer of Presbytery's Co:u:nittee. Commission to Install Rev. H. M. Moffett: Rev. J. W. Lupton, D. D., Rev. Thos. W. Hooper, Jr., Elder C. P. Janney, at Leesburg, and at Farmweli, the same ministers with Elder Dr. Jones on May 9. Dismissed, Rev. C. W. Hollis, to the Presbytery of Central Texas. Stereopticon: Presbytery authorized the committee on foreign missions to secure funds to purchase a stereopticon for the purpose of presenting by this method the cause of missions at least once pei year in every church in the Presbytery. H. Waddell Pratt, S. C. PRESBYTERY OF LAFAYETTE. The Presbytery of Lafayette met at Lamar. Missouri, at 7:30 p. m., April 13, and was opened with a sermon by the Rev. F. A. L. Reid. of Lee's Summit. The toxt was from I Kings 3:5, "Ask what I shall give thee." Attendance: Eighteen ministers and eight elders. Officers: Moderator, Rev. B. Andres, of Memorial and Mt. Olive churches. Temporary clerk. Rev. S. F. Shiffler, of Sweet Springs. Received: Rev. W. W. Palmer was received from the Presbytery of Missouri. Dismissed: Rev. N. H. McCain was dismissed to the Presbytery of Upper Missouri, where his work now lies. Resignation: Rev. J. J. Squfre olTered his resignation as pastor of the church at macKDurn; ne continues as pastor at Corder and will take charge of another church in connection with it. Overtures: Presbytery declined to overture the Assembly to take any steps looking toward the adoption of the rotary 1 system of officers. An overture looking to a change in the time of the meeting of Presbytery was also answered in the negative. The overture of the Assembly's Committee on Evangelism was answered in the affirmative. Calvin Celebration: The Calvin celebration took place on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The first evening Rev, J. E. Abbott spoke on "Calvin, His Personality and His World," and Rev. J. F. Cannon, of St. L>ouis Presbytery, on "Calvin's Theology and Modern Thought." On Thursday evening, Rev. E. C. Gordon spoke on "Calvin, as an Ecclesiastic,'' and Rev. Lvnn P Rr?ns nn "Coluln'o t? Ifluence on the Civic Development." Reports and Offerings: The reports on the various interests of the church were in the main encouraging; and offerings, except in the case of two or three causes showed increase. Adjourned Meeting: At Booneville, the third Tuesday in May. Stated Meeting: Sweet Springs, the second Tuesday in September. Presbytery met iu Idle wild church, Memphis. April 13-15, with sixteen ministers and twenty-five elders present. Tuesday, April 13, a Sunday School Institute was held in the Idlewild church under the supervision of the Presbyterial Committee on S. S. E. and P. Officers: Rev. L. E. McNair, D. D., pastor of Alabama Street church, moder ator, and Ruling Elders R. M. Wright, of Saulsbury, ana C. D. Durrett, of Bolivar, clerks. Calvin Quadricentennial observed with five able addresses. Visiting Brethren: Ministers, T. VV. itaymond, L>. D., W. A. Alexander, D. D., J. W. Orr, R. L. Benn, R. I. L/ong, and Ruling Elder E. B. Chester Evangelistic Work: Conference was held on this subject, resulting in a plan for a summer campaign in all of our churches under direction of the Committee on Local Home Missions in connection with the Presbyterial corresponding member of the Assembly's committee. Narratives: In connection with sessional reports a conference was held on the state of religion in our bounds, showing encouraging progress. Executive Committees were represented in reports on these causes, all showing the Presbytery is endeavoring to press the work along all these lines. Candidates for the Ministry: Mr. A. B. Currv, a graduate of Davidson College, now completing his second year of teaching in Memphis, was received under the care of Presbytery as a candidate for the ministry, making six now under the care of this Presbytery. Local Home Missions: Report showed all fields supplied and financial obligations of the committee met. Organized: A church reported organized at Pocahontas, Tenn., with eleven members and two ruling elders. Dissolved: Porter Street and Westminster churches, Memphis. These were mission churches, which local changes in the growth of the city made it advisable to dissolve. Call Changed: On request of the *3es fH. Conference: Committee appointed to confer with a like committee from Western District Presbytery, touching consolidation of these two bodies, to report to the Presbyteries at the next fall meetings. Permitted: Rev. G. H. Steen, D. D., was permitted to labor in Presbytery until next regular meeting, supplying White Haven and Edmondson churches. J. H. Lumpkin, S. C. CENTRAL ALABAMA PRESBYTERY. Presbytery met in the Salem Church. Tuscaloosa, April 15, Rev. G. W. Covington preached the opening sermon. Officers: Rev. R. D. Roulhac, moderator; Rev. L. M. Fiournoy, temporary clerk. Ordinations: Rev. W. A. Young was ordained and installed pastor of Salem Church. Rev. A. L. Edmiston was ordined as an evangelist. Mr. A. D. Wilkerson was licensed to preach the gospel. The Reports from the churches were guuu. Commissioners: Rev. I. C. H. Champney, Elder John Johnson, principals; Rev. G. W. Covington, Elder Joshua Pickett, alternates. The Meeting of Presbytery was deeply spiritual, three joined the church. Next Meeting: Rock Zion. After a vote of thanks Presbytery adjourned I. C. H. Champney, S. C.
