MUHLENBURG PRESBYTERY.
The Presbytery of Muhlenburg met at
Bowling Green, April 13, at 10 a. m.
Officers:. Ruling Elder John E. DuBose
was elected moderator, and Ruling
Elder George Smith, temporary clerk.
Calvin Celebration: The ad-interim
committee on program for the Calvin
celebration presented the following program,
which was carried out: First day,
at 10:30 a. m., address by Rev. E. E.
Smith, "The World Into Which John
Calvin Came"; at 7:30 p. m., address by
Rev. Dr. W. L. Nourse, "The Influence
of Calvin." Second day, 3:30 p. m., address
by Pn^fessor Lewis, of Ogden College,
-"The Influence of Calvinism on
"Education"; at 7:30 p. m., address by
Rev. Dr. H. E. Dosker, "The Life of Johu
Calvin."
Russellville Property: Title to a house
and lot in Russellville, Ky., was authorized
transferred from this Presbytery to
the Presbyterian church in RuEaellvillu,
In connection with the Presbytery of Logan.

Licensure: Mr. D. 3. Gregory, a student
of Southwestern University, was received
under the care of this Presbytery
on certificate from the Presbytery or
Mobile, and, after the usual examination
and trial, was licensed a probationer to
the gospel ministry..
Home Missions: The churches of
Franklin, Mizpah and Scottsville were
grouped, and Rev. R. H. McCaslin was
ordered to visit the group and secure
funds for pastor's salary. Synod's committee
was asked for enough to make the
salary $800 per year. The churches at
Greenville and Central City were allowed
t.o group, and secure a pastor between

reported that of the 1..697 communicants
in the churches x?f the Presbytery, 1,148
are in three of our twenty-one churches,
and that eleven churches have no Sabhath
schools. A recommendation of the
Home Mission Committee was adopted,
that each of the ministers of this Pres

bytery be required to give as mueh as
two weeks during the year to evangelis
tic work outside the bounds of his own
church, under direction of the Home Mission
Committee, and to report that, duty
discharged at the next spring meeting
cf Presbytery. The chairman of the Synodlcal
Committee was given permission
to put an evangelist within our bounds.
Foreign Missions: Contributions to
fore'gn missions show an increase from
fifty-two cents per communicant last year
to ninety-eight cents this year.
Statistical Report: The statistical report
shows a decrease in the number or
communicants, caused by a strict, revision
of the rolls* In two of tna m
churches. The contribution per capita
during the year have increased from
$7.32, as per last report, to $10.25.
Commissioners: Rev. J. C. Tate and
Ruling Eider J. E. Dullose, of Bowling
Green, principals; Rev. Dr. W. L. Noursc
and Ruling Elder Thomas Pollard, or
Bowling Green, alternates.

The Presbytery of Pee Dee met in
Hartsville, April 13. At the request of
the moderator, Rev. V. G. Smith, the
opening sermon was preached by Rev. A.
H. McArn. Mr. J. W. Johnson, moderator,
and Rev. T. E. Simpson, temporary
clerk.
Present: Thirteen ministers and twenty
elders.
Received: Rev. F. D. Viehe. from the
Presbytery of Albemarle, and a commis

Brown and Elder J. N. Drake was appointed

Chicora College: Elder J. N. Drake
was elected to succeed himself as trustee
of Chicora College and Rev. V. (J.
Smith was elected to succeed Rev. C. P.
Parker.
Home Missions: Presbytery adopted
the plan of home mission work adopted
by the Synod and recommended that the
Synod's committee eleot Rev. G. G. Mayes
as superintendent.
Conference: Presbytery decided to
hold both an evangelistic conference and
an elders' and deacons' institute in connection
with the fall meeting, , which is
to be held with the young, but promising,
church of Effingham.
Overture: Presbytery returned an affirmative
answer to the Assembly's over
ture in regard to a change in the Book
of Church Order, and answered "No" to
rhe overture in regard to change in the
Confession of Faith.

for Presbytery. Rev. D. M Fulton
was appointed to preach fhe next
Presbyterial sermon on "Giving."
Laymen's Movement: Mr. H. C. Ostrom
addressed the Presbytery on the
Laymen's Movement.
Commissioners: Rev. T. E. Simpson, of
Society Hill, S. C., and Elder J. W. Johnson,
of Marion, principals; Rev. D. M.
Fulton, of Darlington, and Elder T. R.
Townsend, of Blenheim, alternates.
Presbyterial High School: The
churches were instructed to take up a
collection on the third Sabbath in June,
on the basis of twenty-five cents per
member, for the Presbyterial High
School in Florence. This was an exceedingly
pleasant meeting among a kind ard
hospitable people.
