MARION FEMALE SEMINARY.
The Marion Female Seminary, the
second oldest female institution in the
south granting diplomas to young women,
passed under the control of Tuscaloosa
Presbytery a year ago and has just closed
its first session under the new regime.
While the school has been small, the
work by teachers and pupils has been
very gratitying.
The Baccalaureate sermon was
preached by Rev. W. H. Marquess, D. D.,
L?. L. D., of Louisville, Kv.
The closing exercises were held at
Uniontown, Alabama. The majority of
the teachers have been retained and others
have been added. The music department
has been strengthened by the
addition of a superior professor of music.
The present outlook for the Seminary is
very bright and every one be-speaks for
it a fine opening in the fall.

give promise of beneficient fruitage. The

beautiful, and as usual excited much favorable
comment.
On Commencement night diplomas
were given to 15 graduates. The services
of the occasion were delightful.
Then, after the benediction, many friends
and relatives gathered on the rostrum to
congratulate the graduates on their success,
