v, ltciuk ussemDied in a
called joined meeting, adopted the following
preamble and resolutions:
Whereas, it has pleased the Great Head
of the Church to remove from earth to
realms of bliss, the soul of Mrs. Anna,
beloved wiie of Rev. J. C. Johnson, pastor
of said church: *
Thereiore, be it resolved jointly by the
above societies;
First, That in tne death of our beloved
sister we recognize that her removal
from us was "the Lord's doing," and
though so mysterious, yet we bow submissively
to what he nas done, with the
sweet comfort that our great loss is her
everlasting gain.
Second, That in the death of our coworker.
we have lost one who was deeply
interested in the work of the societies
of which she was a member. She was
always ready to ofTer some good sugges
tion, and was a valued counsellor. She
was unstinted in her contributions and
was an example of zeal and encouragement.
Third, That her loss is felt not only
in our societies, but also in tne great
circle of friends, to whom she, by her
gentle manners and great interest, endeared
herself.
Fourth, '1 hat we extend to our beloved
pastor, the husband of the departed,*and
to the bereaved sister and brother, the
profound sympathies of our hsarts in
their irreparable loss, and commend
them to the crace ot <.n?i onH tn 1
of that Saviour, in whom the companion
and sister has so peacefully fallen a?leep.
Fifth, That a page in the records of
each society be dedicated to her memory,
and that these resolutions be
spread upon the minutes of each society,
and a oopy be sent tue following papers
for publication, viz.: "The Christian Observer,"
"The Presbyterian of the South"
and "The Pocahontas Times."
By Order of Societies.
