Zelgler, makes a good showing for the work of the past year. Mr. Zeigler Is an able preacher of the Word and an attractive man among men. Prof. John Caldwell Calhoun, an elder in the Tallahassee Luurch, has had the degree Lit. P., conferred upon him by his Alma Mater, Washington and L?ee University, Lexington, Va. GEORGIA. Atlanta, Fourth Church: On Sunday, .luue iwu ijeruvinu were received oil .profession of their faith into the membership of this church. On Sunday, July 4, protracted services began in this church, Rev. E. D. Brownlee, preaching each evening through the week. Thomaston: Rev: F. D. Hunt, evangelist of Atlanta Presbytery, began a meeting in this cburcn on Sunday, June 20, * and continued through the following Sabbath. All denominations Joined in the services. Mr. Hunt preached the Gospel with great power and simplicity; he is E PRESBYTERIAN OF THE SOU' mighty in the Scriptures and practical in the application. Rev. Jonas Barclay writes as follows: "I assisted Rev. J. T. Wade in a meeting lasting eignt davs at Tunnel win Sunday, June 2(. Tnough tbe farmers were too busy to attend at this time of the year, after so much rain, the interest was good, and we trust that the little band was distinctly encouraged and strengthened. 1 here were a number of children's sermons during the meeting, and one little girl about twelve years of age, united with the church. Mr. Wade, who came to this group of churches last January, has won the love of his people and his field shows many gratifying evidences of progress made during the past year. My appointments for meetings during the summer are as follows: July 30 to August 9, at Midway; August 15-27, at Chickamauga (Stone church); August 28 to September 3, at Beersheba; September 4-13 at Sardis." KENTUCKY. Rev. A. N. Wolff, a recent graduate of the Kentucky Theological Seminary, has received a unanimous call to the Bardstown Rooad Church. South Louisville is a church in which the writer of these lines has felt a special interest by reason of his personal labors at this point in years gone by. Some five or six years ago, a Sunday school room was built at the cost of $2,000. More recently Rev. W. Y. Davis has been supplying the church. The adjacent lot has been purchased and a very neat house of worship erected. The dedication services took place on the last Sabbath of June, and short addresses were made by Rev. Messrs. The Presbytery of Louisville held an adjourned meeting in the First Presbyterian church of Louisville, June 29, at 10:30. Licentiate D. B. Gregory was received from the Presbytery of Muhlenburg. A call from the Woodland church was placed in his hands, and accepted by him. He was examined with a view to his ordination and the following commission" was appointed to ordain him and install him pastor of the Woodland church July 4, at 4 p. m.: Rev. W. H. Miley, D. D., to preside and preach. Rev. W. Y. Davis to deliver the charge to the pastor, and Rev. Egbert W. Smith, D. D., to deliver the charge to the people. Presbytery adjourned to meet at the call of the moderator. David M. Sweets, S. C. LOUISIANA. New Orleans: Rev. Chas. L. Nourse has asked the cangregatlon of the Memorial church to concur with him in a request- to the Presbytery to dissolve the pastoral relation. Mr. Nourse expects to engage In the evangelistic work. rH. July 7, 1909, MISSISSIPPI. Jackson: At a congregational meeting held on June 27, the West Side churcu increased its official forces by the election of an additional elder, Mr. W. G. Smith, and three additional deacons, Messrs. P. L. Borden, R. M. Dobyns, and W. M. Rodgers. It is confidently believed that the church has made a wise choice in selecting these gentlemen as officers, and that tne official forpps will ]y strengthened. me congregation further voted to change the name of the church from the West Side Presbyterian church of Jackson, to the Central Presbyterian church of Jackson. This name, is now much more appropriate, indicating its location in the city. Mr. W. C. Smith, field secretary of home missions and evangelistic work in the Synod of Mississippi has recently held enthusiastic "rallies" in Tupelo, Meridian, Grenada, Greenwood and McComb. Dr. J. B. Hutton spoke on "Men for the Man of Galilee," Rev. R. L. Campbell on "Pastors and Laymen in Home Misaion Work," and Dr. C. S. Newman on "Is the Country Church Worth Saving?" These strong address have put the people to thinking. The hope is entertained that in the near future the plan in the Synod of Mississippi properly worked will bring regular administration of the Word to all the churches now vacant in our bounds. The committee took a wise step when they called Mr. W. C. Smith to devote all of his tim? to putting the plan into practical operation. S. C. C. NORTH CAROLINA. Brunswick: A Sunday school convention will be held in the New Hope church on July 21. -Rev. J. S. Crowley, Rev. J. ?M. Wells, D. M., and Rev. A. D. Mo Clure will be among the speakers. Wilmington, First Church: Rev. F. A. Brown, of the Forward Movement, Nashville, Tenn., preached in this church on Sunday mornipg, June 27. This church has undertaken the evangelization of 300,000 in one of the Chinese provinces, and is now giving to foreign missions an average of nineteen dollars per member. Some of the members have assumed the support of three native helpers. Mr. Brown expects to go to the foreign field this fall. Winston-Salem: On Sunday, June 13. Rev. N. L. Anderson presented the claims of toe work in North Winston and the urgent necessity for. enlarged facilities for that work. As a result of this appeal nearly four thousand dollars have been subscribed, and the contract for thb enlarged building will be let immediately. This work is under the special direction of Mr. Geo. W. Lee, the pastor's assistant, and the plans for the new building. in addition to enlarged facilities for . the growing Sunday school, provide for a complete plant for boys' work, night .school, etc. .
