Negro Census Takers: Southern congressmen
are worried over what they
suppose to be the probability that negroes
will be sent into the homes of the
white people of the South to gather
data for the thirteenth decennial census
and they will urge President Taft to
give instructions that only white enumerators
shall be employed in districts
south of the Mason and Dixon line. Representatives
in congress from the South
say that they have little hope of preverting
the employment of negroes unless
the president interferes.
