DISCIPLES CALLED CHRISTIANS.
An Inquiry.
Dear Sir:
I noticed an article in a recent issue
of your paper, entitled "The Disciples
Called Christians First in Antioch," in
which the writer takes the view that the
disciples were called Christians by others,
perhaps in derision. The above is
the opinion of most of the authors of
Sunday-school lesson helps, but Scott's
commentary says that the Greek Implies
that Paul and Barnabas called them
Christians, and that they did so by divine
revelation. And goes on to give
what appears to the writer of this article
plausible reasons for his opinion.
The writer would be pleased to have
Rev. E. C. Murray, or some other competent
scholar read Scott's note, and discuss
the same, in some.future number
of your paper, because his comment is so
different from most notes on the passage.

THE WOMAN'S DEBT FUND.
' Dear Christian Friends: Our hearts
were filled with grateful Joy as we read
in The Missionary of July the article
under the head of "Debt Fund," written
by our secretary, Rev. S. H. Ches'ter,
D. D., in which he says: "At present the
debt has been reduced to such dimensions
we are able to care for it temporarily,"
and suggests that we cease to
