Rev. H. T. Gillespie was elected moderator
and General W. E. James of Darlington,
temporary clerk. The pastoral relations
between Rev. A. G. Buckner, D. D.,
and the church of Beulah was dissolved
and Dr. Buckner accepted a call from the
Dillon Church, in connection with his nth
er two churches of Kentyre and Pee Dee.
Rev. J. G. Richards, the Nestor of the
Presbytery stated that on account of his
advanced age he found it necessary to
retire from the pastorate. The churches
of Blenheim and Reedy Creek very reluctantly
consented from motives of consideration
to Mr. Richards Mnnv
bers of Presbytery expressed their regret
that Bro. Richards found it necessary
to take this step and their pleasure that
he was to remain with us as presbyter.
The Presbytery by a rising vote assured
Bro. Richards of its appreciation of his
long aud splendid service and united in
prayer in behalf of Bro. Richards and his
churches. His resignation takes effect
January 1.
An ad interim committee on the proof
texts was appointed, consisting of Rev.
A. H. McArn, Rev. A. G. Buckner, D. D?
and Mr. John McSween. Rev. A. E. Spencer
was appointed to preach at the next
meeting of Presbytery on "Repentance."
The Presbyterial sermon at this meeting
was preached by Rev. D. M. Pulton on
"Giving."

Missionary Movement presented the
cause to the Presbytery. The Presbytery
expressed itself as satisfied with the"
language of the Confession of Faith in
regard to the Elect Infant Clause and declined
to make any suggestion to the Assembly's
committee. Rev. F. D. Viehe in
behalf of the Bennettsville Church Invited
Presbytery to unite with them in a
missionary conference to be held sometime
this fall. Presbytery accepted the
invitation and appointed a committee to
assist in arranging for the conference.

THE PRESBYTERY OF WASHBURN.
Met at Charleston, in Franklin county,
Ark., September 22, 1909. There were
present seven ministers and one licentiate,
and five ruling elders. '
An interesting feature of the meeting
was a Sunday-school Institute held 011
Thursday, the second da? of the meeting,
under the auspices of the Presbytery. The
program was a good one, and the prepar
ed addresses and the general discussions
were very interesting and helpful.
Mr. S. K. Dodson, a licenciate of Brownwood
Presbytery, Texas who for the past
three months has been supplying the
churches at Russellvilie and Alma, was
received upon certificate from that Presbytery.

toral service for three-fourths of his time
being presented, Presbytery proceeded to
examine him for ordination; and the examination
being satisfactory, arrangements
were made for his ordination and
installation at Russellville on the third
Sabbath in October.
Changes in the personel of the perma

H. Morrow was made chairman and treasurer
of the Committee on Home Missions,
relieving Rev. J. E. Wylie, who has been
filling these positions in addition to his
work as superintendent of Home Missions
and evangelist of Presbytery. Rev. R. B.
Willis was made chairman of the Committee
of Ministerial Education and Relief,
in place of Rev. W. H. Morrow, transferred
to the Committee of Home Mis
sions, and Rev. S. K. Dodson was made
chairman of the Committee on Publication
and Sunday-schools, in place of Mr.
Morrow, who for the past year has been
filling this position.
The Committee on Home Missions reported
the organization of a new church
at Pleasant Hill, in Benton county, consisting
of twenty-one members.
On Friday night a popular meeting in
the interest of Foreign Missions was held,
which was largely attended. Rev. Robt.
J. MeMurray, of West Lexington Pres
bytery, Ky., delivered an interesting and
stirring address on the Forward Movement

aged us to hope for large results from
the canvass of the churches of our Presbytery,
in which he is now engaged.
The Presbytery approved the change in
the Book of Church Order, recommended
by the last Assembly, making it lawful
for the expenses of commissioners to the
General Assembly to be defrayed by a
general fund assessed equitably upon all
the Presbyteries.
The report on the Narrative shows
that all our churches, with one exception,
are now sunnHort with momiof
services.
Russellville was chosen as the place,
and the second Wednesday of April, 7:30
p. m? as the time of the next regular
meeting.

THE PRESBYTERY OF CHEROKEE.
The Presbytery of Cherokee met in the
Presbyterian church of Dalton, Ga., Tuesday
evening, September 28, and was
opened with a sermon by the retiring
moderator, Rev. E. D. Patton, of Acworth,
from Mark 4:38.
Present: thirteen ministers and twelve
ruling elders.
Organization.?Rev. W. H. Darnall, D.
li., was elected moderator and Rev. J. C.
Clarke, temporary clerk.
Received.? Rev. R. C. McRoy was received
l'rpm the Presbytery of- Dallas,
and given charge as stated supply of the
Canton group.
Call*.?The Blue Spring Church presented
a call for the pastoral services of
Rev. J. C. Clarke tor one-fourth of his
time and Presbytery appointed a commission
to install him on November 5,
as pastor of this church.

Conferences.?Presbytery gave special
attention to the Home Mission work, and
engaged in a general conference on the
state of religion within its bounds.

Rev. J. K. Coit and J. T. Wade on Christian
Education, in which they presented
the work that is being done at Nacoochee
Institute.
Davidson College.?The request of the
Trustees of the Davidson College that this
Presbytery elect a trustee of said college
was placed on the docket for the

Minutes of the Assembly.?Presbyteiy
approved of the plan for the payment of
the expenses of commissioners to the Assembly
from a general fund raised by an
assessment upon the whole Church.

the following change: "All infants dying
in infancy, and also all other persons
who are mentally incapable of being outwardly

though the Holy Spirit who worketh
when, and where, and how he pleaseth."
Calvin Celebration.? The feature of this
meeting was the Calvin celebration, and
the following interesting addresses were
delivered: "Calvin and Servetus," by
Rev. W. L. I,ingle, D.D.: "Calvin and the
Bible," by Rev. W. H. Darnall, D.D., and
"Calvin, the Man," by Rev. A. A. Little,
D. D.
