The all-wise and loving Father has been . pleased to send again into our midst the death angel; with his relentless sickle he iias i ui aown one 01 eartrrs sweetest and purest flowers, and has transplanted it into the garden by the Ilivev of Life. Why this unwelcome visitor should have entered the home of our beloved pastor. Rev. X. B. Mathes, and have plucked the tenderest blossom, is not for us to know now, but then we shall understand and this we do know that whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth. Little Rachel came to her earthly home October 6, 1907, on the first day of the week. And on September 5, 1909, the first day of another week she went back to her heavenly home. God only loaned her to us for a little while, and then took her back to Himself. She can not come back to us, but we may go to her. She is gone?our little Rachel Hushed the voice so soft and sweet, In the home we hear no echo Of the pattering little feet. Dimpled little hands are folded On the peaceful little breast: Tender, laughing eyes are sleeping? Little feet, so tired, now rest. Empty are the mother's arms now, Hungry the mother's heart? Still she. cheerful, smiling, trusting. Bravely bears her bitter part. She is gone, our darling Rachel, And her earthly home is sad; But wo know beyond the portals i Angels 'round the throne are glad. And we know the all-wise Father Only does that which is best; So. He, in His love and wisdom Took our darling to His breast. She's up there in glftry, waiting? In that happy, heavenly home; And the little hands are beck'ning For the loved ones here to "come." Whereas, flod, in His infinite wisdom has seen fit to tak<> little Rachel from us; therefore be it
