Bartow. Fla.: Our pastor, Rev. W. T.
,'aller and his excellent family were the
jcipients on a recent occasion of a deded
pounding." No fists were used
ccept to lug in the various packages
ad parcels which came from all sides
id people. The pastor was completely
iken by surprise. The members of the
jngregation gathered at a nearby home
3d then marched in procession, two by
vo, headed by Judge Preston, the senr
elder and clerk of session. Each par?1
was deposited with a rhyme referng
to. the contents and considerable
lerriment was evoked by the witty sales.
The following day those who were
aable to attend the meeting at the
ianse sent their contributions. Brother
'aller is greatly beloved by his people

Savannah: It is announced that Rev.
R. \V. Alexander, recently of Tarboro, N.
C., has accepted work in the Independent
Church of Savannah.
Atlanta* TTIrct Phnrnh Hr T in?la
nounced on last Sunday morning that Mr.
H. T. Inman had presented the First
Church with a house and lot on Third
Street for a manse, on condition that the
Church would raise $2,500 to put it in perfect
order. The announcement was received
with enthusiasm. This is the
same Mr. Inman who gave $100,000 to
the Ministerial Relief Fund. He has a
way of doing good and at the same time
provoking others to good works.
?Meeting of the Evangelical Ministers:
The greatest meeting of ministers ever
held in Atlanta, was held in the First
Presbyterian Church last Monday afternoon.
The Evangelical Ministers' Association
held their regular meeting at that
time and invited all other ministers Irrespective
of creed or color to meet with
them. The Church was literally full of
preachers. The feature of the meeting
was an address by Rev. F. B. Meyer, of
London.
?A Question of Dress in the house of
God: There is a question on which we
wish to speak with all seriousness. The
large hats the ladies wear to church in
these latter days interfere seriously with
the serices. On account of them the minister
can not see the people and the people
can not see the minister. The pastor
of this Church has had some very earnest
letters on this subject. It lies within the
power of the ladies to remedy this matter
by wearing smaller hats to Church or no
hats at all. Will they do it? There is a
commandment which bears on this sub W+
-U.n i? . ..
a i.kju BUiiii iove my neigQDor as
thyself." There are also two very explicit
passages of Scripture. Read 1 Timothy
2:9-10 and 1 Peter 3:3-4.?First
Church Calendar.
Millen: I closed a meeting last week at
Millen Ga.f with two aditions to the
church on profession and baptism. I
preached Friday night at Wadley, Ga., to a
fine congregation and found some very determined
Presbyterians who want regular
preaching and a church organized,
and they desire my early return. This
will help complete a group of new
churches, viz.: Louisville, Wadley, Millen
and Sylvania, and we would like a
preacher for these as early as possible.
I began a meeting at Mllledgeville yesterday
with most flattering prospects.
Address me here.
