PRESBYTERIAN OF THE SOU
TO THE STATED CLERKS.
The spring meetings of the Presbyteries
are now near at hand, and the
General Assembly will follow soon after.
I beg, therefore, to remind you how
much the comfort and success of the Assembly's
business, and the early issue
of its minutes depend upon your promptness
and accuracy. Please, then, read |
carefully the directions to the stated |
clerks of Presbyteries as found on page j
134 of the minutes of the last Assembly,
and comply strictly with the request,
which our late lamented stated clerk
there makes. Dr. Alexander knew from
his large experience, the great importance
of these things, and he, being dead,
yet speaks to you through this page
which he left behind. First, be sure to
procure new blanks and cast aside all
your old ones. Numerous changes have
been ordered by the Assembly, especially
in the Narratives of Session and Presby
tery, Sessional and Presbyterial Reports
of Sabbath Schools, Reports on Systematic
Beneficence and Statistical Reports.
The revised blanks have been printed
and will be supplied at cost by the secretary
of publication. Get a sufficient
supply from him at once and supply all
your sessions. Pastors have been writing
to me for these blanks which you
should supply. Second, be careful to
make up all your reports accurately and
fully, so that they may require no alterations
when they come into my hands.
Third, forward them all to me, just as
soon as you have completed them. Do
not wait to send, or hand them over at

be in my hands by the 1st of May, if
possible, so that the printers may have
them set up by the time the Assembly
meets. Forward me in advance also,
any overtures for the assembly that I
may classify them and have them arranged
in order for presentation. Fourth,
when you send the answer of your Presbytery
to the proposed amendment to the
Form of Government Paragraph 58,
touching the expenses of Commissioners
to the Assembly, do not forget the Assembly's
request to report also the expenses
of your Commissioners last year.
(See page 30, Minutes of 1909.) Fifth,
please each one notify the treasurer of
your Presbytery of the amount of the
Assembly's assessment (1cents per

The remarkable cure in two extreme cases
of opium and cocaine addictions that had
been made at Dr. YVoolley's Sanitarium in
Atlanta, Ga? were freely commented upon
by The Atlanta Constitution, the leading paper
in that city. The Atlanta Constitution
said: "These were extreme cases, using both
morphine and cocaine, each using from forty
to sixty grains of morphine and from twenty
to twenty-five grains of cocaine, hypodermically,
in twenty-four hours. Their vital
forces were impaired, they were emaciated,
and were seriously in doubt about ever
being cured by any method of treatment;
their whole bodies almost a mass of sores as
a result of the puncture of needles. Both of
these patients were discharged after thirty
days' treatment, neither of them taking any
medicine the last fifteen days. The sores
of their bodies had healed, they could sleep.
there was no Insomnia, no loss of appetite
and no material suffering. They progressed
nicely from the first dose of medicine and
gained strength and flesh rapidly." Those
interested can have without charge, a copy
of Dr. Woolley's book on these habits and
their cure by addressing. No. 18 B Victor
