April 6, 1910; THE
called to conduct the funeral rites of a
former member of his charge there. Mr.
White seems to have lost none of h's
great popularity among the people he
served so long at Warm Springs, in attestation
of which the following appreciative
article appeared in the Bath
County Enterprise of yesterday: "Rev.
Wm. C. White, former pastor of the
Warm Springs Presbyterian Church, but

morning and afternoon to his old congregation,
among whom he had so faithfully
labored for 22 years, and who ministered
comfort in their sorrows and shared in
their joys, and under whose preaching
many were added to the church roll. Notwithstanding
the short notice given that
Mr. White would preach here there were
large congregations present to hear him
?thus showing their appreciation of
again having their old pastor among
them.''?"Staunton Dispatch and News."
Louisa C. H.: During a brief stay at
this place, I have had my interest greatly
aroused in the little Presbyterian Church
recently organized here. As the capital
and center of the county, in which, by
the way. there is at Dresent auite an in
flux of new comers, it is a good point I
think at which to plant a church of our
denomination. An organization has been
effected, with two elders and two deacons,
and a membership of not quite
twenty, and at present, through the courtesy
and kindness of their Baptist brethren,
they are holding services once a
month in the Baptist Church. A promising
little Sunday-school is held every
Sabbath. The congregation has bought
a lot, and have over $500 subscribed towards
building a church. They deserve
sympathy in their undertaking. They
also deserve the aid of any who have the
power to give it. The cause of Home
Missions should always be dear to our
hearts. Without exalting it over that
equally important cause of foreign missions.
I think the fostering, encouraging
and upbuilding of our weak and strugi?Hnc
pnnntrv ehnrehes should anneal t.O
every loyal son and daughter of the
Church. Self-interest and self-preservation
also command It, for from them
flows a more or less constant stream to
strengthen our city churches. I trust
these lines may attract the attention, and
arouse the Interest of some of God's
people who can lend these deserving
brethren a helping hand. My letter is
an unsolicited one. and I write on account
of my interest in their cause.
Yours sincerely,
Albert C. Bruce.
