Louisville: The Crescent Hill Church,
which recently gave up its pastor to the
Southwestern Presbyterian University,
has called Rev. W. W. Akers, of Maysville.

New Orleans: A meeting Is now in
progress in the Westwego Church, conducted
by Rev. Dr. J. C. Barr. Good results
are looked for. This little church
has made fine progress in the past.
?Rev. P. Ph. Briol, the French evangelist,
occupied the pulpit of the Third
Church last Sunday morning, and that of
the Esplanade Branch of the Third
Church, the pastor, Dr. Summey, being
in Washington, in attendance on the
World's Sunday School Convention.
?The First Church, Rev. Dr. George H.
Cornelson, Jr., pastor, has resolved to
employ a layman assistant for its pastor,
and has made provision for his support.

?The pastor-elect of the Napoleon Avenue,
Rev. George D. Booth, has arrived
and began his work on last Sunday. He
receives a warm welcome to the city.
His family will occupy the manse, No.
4320 Coliseum street, at once. On the
eve of his leaving Monroe Mr. Booth was
given an affectionate leave-taking by all
the Protestant people, a union seivice
being held at which the church was
packed, a thousand or more people being
crowded into the church.
Hammond: The baccalaureate sermon
in the High School was delivered on the
15th inst. by Rev. Dr. Barr, of the Lafayette
Church, New Orleans, Rev. D. M.
Talmage Ailing his pulpit during his absence.
From Hammond Dr. Barr went
to Kentwood, to preach to the new congregation
there which he organized a
few months ago.
Monroe: The congregation of the Monroe
Church is disappointed in its hope of
securing Rev. Dr. Robert Hill, of Dallas,
Texas, as its pastor. Dr. Hill has been
persuaded to remain with his present
charge, the Westminster Church, Dallas,
where he has built up a strong and vigorous
congregation.

French Camp: The commencement sermon
before the two Presbyterial schools
at French Camp, Miss., will be preached
on the fifth Sunday in May, by Rev. R.
L. Campbell, of Hattiesburg, Miss. Mr.
C. H. Alexander, of Jackson, has been
chosen to deliver the annual address.
Waveland: A piece of ground measuring
about 150 by 310 feet has been donated
to the Board of Trusteed of the
First Street German Presbyterian
Church of New Orleans on condition that
it be used for a Presbyterian church and

Potosi Presbytery: At late meetings of
this Presbytery, stated and adjourned,
mLnisters were received from other Presbyteries,
and arrangements made tor
their installation as pastors, which occurred
as follows: On May 5, at 7:30
p. in., Rev. J. Duncan Harley, as pastor
of Maiden Church. He is also stated
supply of Clarkton Church. On Sabbath,

that day, as pastor of Irondale Church,
and at 10 a. m., May 16, as pastor of
South Bellevue Church. On Sabbath,

He is also stated supply of Ste. Genevieve
Church.
Lafayette Presbytery: An adjourned
meeting of this Presbytery was held at
Pleasant Hill, Mo., May 17, at 2:30 p. m.
Present, eight ministers and four elders.
Presbytery was called to order by Rev.
BenjamLn Andres, the last moderator
present. Rev. W. E. Beattie offered his
resignation as pastor of Branson and

The churches having been heard from,
the resignation was accepted. Rev. W.
E. Beattie, who had served the Presbytery
as stated clerk for the past five
years, ofTered his resignation, which was
accepted. The following resolution was
adopted: "The Presbytery of Lafayette,
having been long and faithfully served
by Rev. W. E. Beattie as stated clerk,
we desire hereby to express our regret
at the termination of this service, and
our appreciation of his thorough and efficient
work." Rev. G. W. Jurey was
elected stated clerk, to fill out the unexpired
term. Rev. W. F. Price was received
from the Presbytery of Ft. Worth,
and orders taken for his installation as
pastor of Memorial. Mt. Olive and Noiann
Churches. A report from the Executive
Committee of Home Missions was read
and adopted. Licentiate J. E. M. Crockett,
having passed a satisfactory examination,
was ordained as an evangelist.
For the present his field of labor will be
the Taney county churches. Presbytery
adjourned to meet in Marshall, Mo., the
first Tuesday in June, at 1:30 p. m.

NORTH CAROLINA.
Oxford: Rev. James Y. Fair, D. D., pastor
of Westminster Presbyterian Church,
Richmond, preached the annual baccalaureate
sermon before the graduating class
of Oxford Seminary Sunday morning. His
subject was, "An Ideal Woman, as Por

trayed By Christ." The music was furnished
by a choir composed of members
of the student body and faculty.
Albemarle Presbytery: Adjourned
meeting was held at Wilson, N. C., May
13, 1910, Rev. J. S. Wood, moderator.

Presbytery of South Carolina, and the

SOUTH CAROLINA.
Ebenezer (near Rock Hill): The
spring communion was celebrated on the
first Sabbath of this month. Preaching
began on Friday previous. The pastor,
Rev. J. T. Dendy, was assisted by Rev.
R. C. Morrison, of Kershaw, who preached
some able, gospel sermons. The congregations
were very large and considerable
interest was manifested. Twr?
young persons joined the church on profession
of faith and the membership was
greatly benefited by the meeting.
Mt. Pleasant: The pulpit of this church
was supplied Sunday, the 15th, by Mr.
Archibald Linley, of Columbia Seminary,
who has just completed his first year as
a Theological student. The eleven
o'clock service was listened to by an appreciative
congregation, and in the afternoon
a missionary sermon was preached
on the world for Christ in this generation."
The enthusiasm of the young
preacher was conveyed to his hearers,
while heathenism in Persia was graphically

summer. May the 29th, Dr. Sprunc, of
Charleston, will conduct the worship and
administer the communion.

Fork: A Commission of Pee Dee Presbytery,
consisting of Rev. A. G. Buckner,
of Dillon; Rev. E. C. Bailey, of Timmonsville;
Rev. A. E. Spencer, pastor of Hopewell
Church, and Ruling Elder N. H.
Sprunt, of Dillon, met at Fork, S. C., on
Sunday afternoon, May 15th .and organized
a church of twenty members. Fork
is an important railroad station wiww.

This church will be a part of the Mullins
group, now being served by Mr. W. R.
