This estimate of her was formed while
she was still with us, a tribute to the
life and character of one whom I knew
throusrh the almost thirteen vonra nf
my husband's pastorate in Alexandria,
and loved?I will not try to say how
much.
May the lesson of this quiet life just
ended, be to others what it has been to
me, and so may it prove true that, although
she is resting from her labors,
her "works do follow" her. Rev. 14:13.

FLOWERS BY THE WAYSIDE.
A young girl visiting the country was
following the farmer's wife along a winding
half-overgrown path amid a tangle
of wild flowers. The young visitor exclaimed
at their variety and beauty. "I
moan to gather all I can carry when we
go back and I have a little more time,"
she said. "Better pick them now if you
want them," said the elder woman.
" 'Taln't likely we'll come back this way."
It was one of those simple, homely incidents
that sometimes seem to epitomize
life. We must pick now, if we want
them at all, the flowers that God scatters
along our waj?. The pleasant hours, the
dear friendships, the offered confidences,
the happy gatherings?all the brightness- |
es and blessings that we so often push
aside, but mean to find leisure to enjoy
some time?we must take them day by
day as they come, or we shall lose them
altogether; we never can turn back to

Effects of Opium and Cocaine.
When Improperly used, opium and cocaine
are two of the most powerful, life destroying
drugs In the world. But even worse Is
the slave these drugs produce on those who
acquire the habit of using them, first in
small and subsequently in gradually increased
doses. It is practically impossible for any
one, even with an iron will, to break such
bondage. There is a man over in Atlanta,
G>a., however?Dr. B. M. Woolley?who for
over thirty years has made a business of
curing such drug habits. Unlike many specialists
he treats these habits as diseases
and claims that in most cases the sufferers
are not directly responsible for their condition.
His success in effecting cures is
somethino- nhannmanni?sn remarkable, in I
fact, as to call forth favorable editorial comPJ?nt
from the newspapers. Address him at
