SYNODICAL 30TE8.
Rev. J. B. Carpenter made an Ideal
host, thoughtfully attending to every
need of his guests.
Only one secretary was at the meeting.
A hearty welcome would have
been given to all the rest.
Rev. Dr. W. E. Boggs, General Assembly's
Secretary of Schools and Colleges,
made an eloquent address, short,
crisp, and telling.
The Episcopal church, close by, was
kindly put at the disposal of the Synod
for committee meetings and other purposes.
The Synod's communion service on
the first morning of the meeting was a
spiritual feast. Dr. Allison made an
admirable address.
The Synod had some nice questions

Dr. Phillips' speech was a great Home
Mission plea. He made a happy combination
of that cause with his own
great work for Sunday school extension
and intension.
Dr. L. J. Coppedge, of the Congo Mission,
made a fine impression, In his
vigorous though hurried address. The

Each member claimed that he had
the best place to stay in all Ruston.
We know they thought bo. We know
It, for ourselves, and the others would
have agreed with us had they stopped
where we were.
Dr. Phillips, Superintendent of Sunday
School work, had a good opportunity,
as it appeared at first, that he
was the only representative of the executive
work of the Church. He made
a ringing speech and stirred all who
heard him.
A delightful reception was given to
the members of the Synod, In the rooms
of the Ruston Culture Club, on the af(Contlnued
