auu was to go again soou with Air.
awmeueart, the business man wuo uau
gone to take charge of the business 01
ine .Mission so as to give the ordained
men more time for the evangelistic
work of the mission. Mr. Swineheart,
ne said, was a great blessing and was
lo take charge of the treasurer's work
t:ie nrBt of the New Year. It would be
a great blessing if every one of our
.Missions could be blessed with some
consecrated business man to manage
the business of each Mission. This is
a work for the Laymen's Movement to
take up.
Mr. Coit says of the new station:
"There are fine roads there in all directions
but one, and you can travel
that in a buggy. Boats come within
three miles, afid a railroad Is being
built to connect Yesu, the seaport, with
Seoul, which will run right through
Soenchun. Then we get fine mountain
spring water from a spring on the
mountain. That will give us running
water in our homes, and bath rooms as
at uuiuc.
We are anxious to get down there
and get settled. While on this last
trip 1 visited Yesu, where five years
ago an old lady first heard the gospel
and believed. She begsn to pray dally
for God to send some one to teach the.v.
She bought a Bible front a colporteur
and began to exhort others. Soon a
little band of three or five gathered and
when I went there last year I received
18 into the catechumen. Now they
have a nice church and many are believing
and turning to the lx>rd. 1
bought a house there and moved a helper
to help them hold the fort and
preach the word. So God is answering
prayers. Let all keep on praying and
working. Matthew 9: 35-38; IS- 19, 2?>;
28: 16-20; l Corinthians 15: 58.
Mr. Goit says In his letter that he
had bought a lot of Japanese gospels
and tracts and books, which I am giving
out, and he was still pressing the
colportage work. He says "God was
gcod to spare me when I had appendicitis
lately." An operation might be

HIS PROMISE.
When John Adams was President
there was a boy come from New England
with a message to the White
House. The President invited him to
stay for supper. At the table they
offered him wine, but he refused it.
They said: "What! Will you not drink
with the President?" The boy said, "I
promised mother not to drink wine, and
so I will not." Then the President said,
"There will he no more wine on this
table." That boy was Henry Wilsonwho
afterward became vice-president
and one of our great men. Henry's conduct
not only illustrates the value of
temperance In eating and drinking, hut
the duty of adhering in all clrcum
stances to that course of conduct which.
In our conscience, we bpllevp to be
right.
To experience religion Is not the event
of an evening, but the work and the Joy
of a lifetime.
